In a statement, Abdul Sattar al-Bayraqdar, spokesperson for the High Judicial Council, said "Dhi Qar Criminal Court reviewed cases of two convicts and sentenced them to death after they killed 12 civilians in Annah and al-Jazeera regions in Anbar."

The court, according to the statement, "reviewed a case of one of the convicts and sentenced him to life for taking part in exploding houses in al-Wajihiya region in Diyala."

Eight Islamic State members killed in operations, west of Anbar

Anbar (IraqiNews.com) Five Islamic State members were killed in a security campaign in desert regions, west of Anbar, a leader from the mobilization forces in the province said on Monday.

In remarks to Almaalomah website, Qutri al-Obeidi said “security troops, backed by the army jets managed to kill five Islamic State members in an operation in Wadi Houran region, west of Anbar.”

Troops, according to Obeidi, “managed also destroy 10 motorbikes used by Islamic State members in attacking troops.”

Moreover, the Security Media Center said three militants were killed near the Iraqi-Syrian borders.

In a statement, the center said “al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces) killed three militants and destroyed three motorbikes in Akashat region, near the borders between Iraq and Syria.”
