And so it begins … A woman, inspired by Ford, accuses Republican lawmaker of raping her in 2007
2018-09-30
A Seattle woman was inspired to out her alleged sexual abuser after she observed Christine Blasey Ford testify to the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday.

"Today I watched as Dr. Christine Blasey Ford and Supreme Court Nominee Brett Kavanaugh testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee," accuser Candace Faber wrote on Medium that afternoon. "Like many survivors, I was inspired by Dr. Ford’s courage."

"That is why I chose to name my rapist on Twitter: Joe Fain. He currently serves as a Senator in the Washington State Legislature. I did this without professional legal counsel. It was a decision I made in the moment," she added.

Much like with Ford’s accusation against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, whom she’s claimed without evidence had sexually assaulted her decades ago, Fain’s accusation pertains to events that allegedly transpired years ago.

She specifically claimed in a tweet directed at Fain that he had raped her the night she graduated from Georgetown University in 2007, or 11 years ago.

Continues.

#13  If shes convicted of lying about rape she should serve the same sentence as if the man was convicted.

#12  It's beyond libel as this is criminal accusation. Investigate the charges and if it turns out she is lying she should serve prison time. If he turns out guilty he should serve prison time.

I think before long the number of false accusations will make the "Believe the Women" mantra into a joke.

#11  Dueling makes sense.

#10  You have a point, Rob. The tone of American Politics has sadly declined since Congress outlawed duelling. OTH I once read about a challenge to a duel, someplace in the US, prior to the ban. A very feisty, very short legislator took offense at something a 6'7" member said and challenged him. After trying to ignore the banty rooster's incessant importuning, the big guy finally agreed. Having the choice of weapons, he specified 16 lb sledgehammers in 6 feet of water. Oddly, the duel never came off.

#5  ..well that was the Donk's strategy with Kavanaugh. A warning to anyone taking a Trump nomination to SCOTUS, you will be publicly pilloried. It's war.

#4  Told you, Christine Blasey Ford must be destroyed - to teach (certain) women that accusation of sexual impropriety is NOT a political weapon.

#2  Actually, it is common for people to resort to making false accusations if they can't find real dirt on a person they want to demonize.

Especially if there is low risk or repercussions to themselves for doing so anymore from society.
