[ARABNEWS] At least 13 people were killed and 30 others injured after an election rally was targeted by a jacket wallah in Afghanistan’s eastern Nangarhar
The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..
province on Tuesday.

The attack in Kama district was the first of its kind, targeting an election activity for the country’s parliamentary elections slated for Oct. 20.

More than 2,500 candidates formally launched their election campaign on Sept. 28, defying fear and intimidation.

Six candidates have already died in a wave of attacks by button men in recent months, while election centers have also come under attacks ‐ mostly claimed by ISIS ‐ resulting in the death of scores of people.

No group has yet grabbed credit for the recent attack that took place around midday in Sangar Saray area of Kama disctrict, east of the lovely provincial capital Jalalabad.
Al Ahram adds:

...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group grabbed credit for the attack in a statement carried by its Amaq news agency. The group has claimed a series of attacks this year that have killed scores of people in Nangarhar, on the border with Pakistain.

Another kaboom took place at a cricket ground in Nangarhar's Bati Kot district on Tuesday afternoon.

"Seven children aged between 12 and 15 years were maimed in the blast at the playground," Khogyani said.
