Iraqi police apprehend three Islamic State militants in Kikruk

Kirkuk (IraqiNews.com) – Federal police arrested on Saturday three Islamic State militants in the oil-rich Iraqi province of Kirkuk, a police chief said.

The trio were arrested in different security operations in Hawija district in Kirkuk with two of them possessing explosive materials, a Kalashnikov assault rifle and a motorbike, Iraqi website Ayn Al Iraq quoted Commander of the Iraqi Federal Police Raed Shaker Jawdat as saying.

One of them admitted supplying the terrorist group with foodstuffs, Jawdat added.

Three civilians wounded by mortar missiles, southwest of Kirkuk

Kirkuk (IraqiNews.com) Three civilians were wounded as a mortar missile was fired in southwest of Kirkuk, a security source from the province said on Thursday.

Speaking to Almaalomah website, the source said “a mortar missile was fired, today, by militants on a farm in central Hawija town, southwest of Kirkuk.”

The missile, according to the source, “left three people seriously injured near the blast scene.”

The injured were taken to hospital for treatment, the source added.

Islamic State leader killed in operation in Kirkuk: Security center

Kirkuk (IraqiNews.com) An Islamic State leading member was killed in Kirkuk, the Iraqi Security Media Center said on Thursday.

In a statement, Brig. Gen. Yahia Rasool, spokesperson for the center, said “police managed to kill an Islamic State member in Kirkuk province.”

As his picture was checked by other arrested militants, Rasool added “they recognized him and that he was revealed to have been the commander of the fourth brigade in the so-called Qadisiya division.”

Six people killed, injured in bomb blast, central Kirkuk

Kirkuk (IraqiNews.com) Six people were killed and injured in a bomb blast, central Kirkuk, a security source from the province said on Thursday.

Speaking to Baghdad Today website, the source said “two people were killed and four others were injured in a bomb blast in central Kirkuk.”

Troops transferred the victim to forensic medicine department, while the wounded were taken to hospital for treatment.
