Iraqi serviceman killed, two missing in Islamic State attack in Anbar

Anbar (IraqiNews.com) – An Iraqi serviceman was killed and two others went missing following an attack by Islamic State militants in Anbar province, a security source was quoted as saying.

Speaking to Iraqi website Alghad Press, the source said that a group of Islamic State militants attacked a military vehicle in Al-Qa’im district in Anbar, leaving a serviceman.

“Two other servicemen went missing following the attack,” added the source.

10 security forces killed in fierce attack by Islamic State on Iraqi gas field

Anbar (IraqiNews.com) – As many as 10 Iraqi security men were killed in an attack by Islamic State militants on a gas field in western Anbar.

“IS militants launched an attack on Akkas gas field in western Anbar, leaving 10 security forces dead,” a security source told Alghad Press website.

“Tribal and popular mobilization forces rushed to the site in a bid to repulse the brutal attack,” added the source.

Eight Islamic State members arrested in operation, west of Anbar

Anbar (IraqiNews.com) Eight Islamic State members were arrested in a security operation, west of Anbar, a security source from the province said on Wednesday.

“Security troops carried out a wide-scale campaign after information showed the presence of militants, who had sneaked into Qaim town, west of Anbar, to carry out terrorist operations,” the source told Almaalomah website.

“The campaign resulted in arresting eight Islamic State members,” the source added indicating that “the arrested ones accessed the town using fake identity cards while the displaced families were returning back to their liberated regions.”

The troops, according to the source, “transferred the arrested ones under tight measures to a nearby detention cell for investigations.”
