[KhaamaPress] Tue 5:15pm - At least two senior Taliban ...the Pashtun equivalent of men... leaders were killed or maimed in a deadly infighting which erupted in northern Sari Pul province of Afghanistan. The 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan Military in the North in a statement said the incident took place at around 2 pm local time on Monday. The statement further added that two senior Taliban leaders, Saifuddin also famous as Sadat and Qari Bahramuddin, exchanged fire with each other in Nimdan village located in the outskirts of the scenic provincial capital of Sari Pul province. The statement further added Saifuddin was killed during the clash while Qari Bahramuddin who is leading a group of 50 Lions of Islam sustained critical injuries during the exchange of fire. The anti-government armed bad boy groups including Taliban have not commented regarding the incident so far. Sari Pul has been among the relatively calm provinces in North of Afghanistan but the security situation in some of its districts has started to deteriorated during the recent years. |

#2 While media worthy, the killing of Taliban "leadership" has obviously not resulted in an end the conflict. Perhaps it's time to engage the rank and file. |
