Trump announces deal with lawmakers to end government shutdown
2019-01-26
[ARABNEWS] President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
said on Friday he has reached a tentative agreement with US politicians for three weeks in stop-gap funding that would end a partial US government shutdown now in its 35th day, with a senior Democratic aide saying money the president demanded for a border wall is not included.
Not paying the Coast Guard woulda been the kicker there. As soon as I read about it, I saw this coming.
The president had previously insisted on the inclusion of $5.7 billion to help pay for a wall along the vast US-Mexico border in any legislation to fund government agencies.

"I am very proud to announce today that we have reached a deal to end the shutdown and reopen the federal government," Trump said in remarks in the White House Rose Garden.

"In a short while, I will sign a bill to open our government for three weeks until Feb. 15. I will make sure that all employees receive their back pay very quickly, or as soon as possible," Trump said.

#20  Schumer's comment about "teaching Pres. Trump a lesson" was the utterance of a fool.

But they feel on fools' ears . . . .

#16  Nancy has already gone back on her word she would allow the state of the union address to go if the shutdown ended. Now she's say no to it.

#15  21 days from now, Trump can declare an emergency because he negotiated in good faith and they did not. 'Cuz I know Nancy and Chuck ain't gonna give an inch.

#12   “It was taking care of millions of people who were getting badly hurt by the Shutdown with the understanding that in 21 days, if no deal is done, it’s off to the races!“ DJT

I've got to read the Arab News to get a reasonable account of this story (No constant Trump bashing)?

Let's see what happens on February 15th.

#10  I don't understand why they should get back pay unless they worked. And I don't understand how they could be required to work without getting pai timely. This way the least essential get extra paid vacation.

#9  THERE IS NO GOOD FAITH WITH THE LEFT. I’VE NEVER SEEN ANYONE NEGOTIATE WITH SOCIALISTS OR COMMUNISTS AND GET ANYTHING BUT DESTROYED. AH WELL. I WAS AFRAID OF THIS WHEN THEY TOOK THE HOUSE: Sarah Hoyt

#8  BTW, back in the 70s, DoD lived by temporary extension continuing resolutions month to month for 3 months. Then they settled for a continuing resolution for the rest of the year.

#7  Am I missing something? Other sources says till 15 February and its temporary. With back pay, that covers two mid-months and one end of month pay periods for federal workers.

#6  George Washington initially did not win many of the battles of the revolution. He preserved his military by withdrawing from the battle field if he felt he was about to take serious losses.

Federal Employees were about to loose a third paycheck, 6 Senators had defected, you need to blame the Senate as well. Trump knew he had to withdraw, regroup and fight again. Beating these hardass people in the first fight to secure our borders will take a few battles, almost no wars have been won in one battle. I believe getting a wall is going to take a while to wear down the opposition.

#5  He did offer a few apples. Now they have the apple inside the coconut. Good job!

#4  Agree with #2, that was one of the stupidest things I've heard a D say in months. It's a monkey trap. Reach inside the small hole in the coconut and grab the apple, then try to get your hand back out after grabbing the apple. Or something like that. I've never had a need to study the behavior precisely but I think some on the left are dancing unaware that their pants are on fire now ...

#1   I will make sure that all employees receive their back pay very quickly, or as soon as possible," Trump said.

This is why he stopped the shutdown. He has a heart. He realized the Dims don't. For the Dims, winning even when others suffer is not a big deal to them.
