‘Is Venezuela your state?’ Erdogan slams US, EU states for Guaido endorsement

countries for their endorsement of Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido as interim president of the country, during a parliamentary address in Ankara on Tuesday.

"Is Venezuela your state? How can you tell someone to leave who is doing the job following an election? And how can you deliver the presidency of a nation to someone who hasn’t even been elected? Where’s the democracy? Weren’t you democratic?," Erdogan asked rhetorically.

The European Union had planned to issue a statement of support for Guiado, but the move was reportedly vetoed by Italia. Several EU states have formally recognised Juan Guaido as the interim president of Venezuela.

Accusing the West of hypocrisy, Erdogan asked: "on the one hand, you say repeatedly ’democracy’ and ’ballot box’, and then you’re going to topple the government with force and deception?"

The Ottoman Turkish leader also expressed anger towards the US for apparent delays in creating a buffer zone in Syria, warning that "our patience is not limitless."

#6  If you look at the troubled states in middle east I would think Turkey could be next in getting the worlds negative attention: Iraq, Afghanistan, Egypt, Libya, Iraq some more, Syria, Yemen...

#5  Supporting a crooked election of a hostile leader? Thats what you are doing when you agree with Erdogan.

He's NOT right and neither are you isolationists. Maduro government is not duly elected. We have no obligation to recognize it. And it benefits the US to do otherwise. America First. Thats why Trump does what he does.

Sets a rather nice precedent for the next time Erdogan rigs an election. As usual, Trump is a move ahead of the clowns.

#3  No they are not our state, and we have no responsibility for its failure, or helping the remnants recover. Burn, baby burn.

#2  I actually think he's getting nervous about Trump getting tired of him being a yapping dog.
