Syrian Army sends 2 divisions to Hama and Aleppo as offensive brews

[AlMasdar] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) recently sent two divisions to the Hama and Aleppo governorates as reports of a new offensive continue to swirl around northwestern Syria.

According to a new report from the Hama Governorate, the Syrian Arab Army deployed the 5th Corps and 9th Division to northwestern Syria.

The report said that the 5th Corps and 9th Division were specifically sent to the southwestern part of Aleppo and northern countryside of Hama.

These new reinforcements come just days before the Syrian government and opposition meet in the capital of Kazakhstan to discuss a peace settlement.

Furthermore, the Russian, Ottoman Turkish, and Iranian defense ministers are set to meet in the port city of Sochi this week in order to discuss the current situation inside the Idlib Governorate.

Should all three agree to launch an offensive to rid Idlib of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
and Tanzim Hurras al-Deen, the Syrian Army reinforcements will come in handy during this battle.

Syrian Army destroys rebel hideouts in northern Hama

[AlMasdar] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) carried out a heavy attack on the northern countryside of the Hama Governorate, today, targeting a number of rebel hideouts inside the buffer zone.

Led by the 4th Armored Division, the Syrian Arab Army launched several surface-to-surface missiles towards a number of Jaish al-Izza hideouts inside the town of al-Janbarah.

According to a military report from the northern Hama front, the Syrian Arab Army managed to destroy these Jaish al-Izza hideouts, while also inflicting heavy casualties within the ranks of the rebel group.

The Syrian Elite Republican Guard also carried out a similar attack on Tuesday, striking Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
’s positions inside the al-Ghaab Plain.

These attacks by the Syrian Arab Army have become more prevalent as Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham’s expansion last month, coupled with the rebel refusal to leave the buffer zone has created a great deal of animosity.
