[Bangkok Post] A Thai ranger was killed and another ranger and a civilian injured when a roadside bomb exploded in Yala province on Tuesday morning. Police said two homemade bombs were hidden on a roadside in Banang Sata district. One was detonated as a six-man ranger patrol on teacher protection duty passed the spot. Two rangers were hit by shrapnel. One was killed and the other wounded. A woman riding a motorcycle along the road was also knocked to the ground and broke her wrist.
Bomb disposal officers sent to the scene found the second bomb hidden nearby in the grass along the roadside. They safely destroyed it.
Police blamed insurgents.
