George Clooney calls for hotel boycott over Brunei LGBT laws |
2019-03-30 |
[BBC] Hollywood actor George Clooney is calling for a boycott of nine luxury hotels with links to Brunei, after the country said gay sex and adultery would soon be punishable by death. He said Dorchester Collection hotels in the US, UK, France and Italy, which are owned by the Brunei Investment Agency, should be avoided by those who oppose the measures. |

#13 I am curious what Clooney's position is regrading other nations with Sharia law. Like did he support Obamas friendship with Iran? Does he work on movies that might have Saudi money? |

#1 A bold and principled stand, George. But are you prepared to go down that rabbit hole? Brunei's new laws, the ones you decry as human rights violations, are based on Sharia - the foundation of Islam. Not some weird offshoot of Islam, basic meat and potatoes Islam. So the question becomes, is your outrage limited to luxury hotels? |
