[DAWN] A man allegedly stabbed and injured a maiden of tender years in broad daylight in the presence of several people after she refused to marry him, the Mughalpura police said on Wednesday.A police official said the suspect intercepted the girl in a crowded bazaar near Jehangir Road and expressed anger after he found out that she had refused his marriage proposal.
Quoting locals, the official said, the suspect, Ghulam Murtaza, holding a knife in one hand proposed to her again, saying that she must fulfil her promise she made to him.
As she told him about her parents’ wish to marry her off to another man, the suspect attacked and injured her seriously. Locals immediately overpowered the suspect and handed him over to police after giving him a thrashing.
