Led by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
, the jihadist rebels attempted to infiltrate the Syrian Army’s positions near the town of Nibh Almur; this attack was partially successful as they managed to kill a few soldiers.Following the infiltration attempt, a fierce battle broke out between the two warring parties, resulting in heavy casualties for all involved.
The festivities have since died down after many of the jihadist rebels retreated back to their lines in northern Latakia; however, the Syrian Arab Army is still attempting to eliminate the last the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham infiltrators in the area.
These infiltration attempts by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham have become more prevalent over the last three weeks, as they have not only attacked the Latakia Governorate, but also several government areas inside the Idlib, Hama, and Aleppo governorates.
In response to these infiltration attempts, the Syrian military has begun amassing their troops in northwestern Syria for what is expected to be an offensive to expel the forces of Evil from the demilitarized zone that was established in Sochi on September 17, 2018.
