A robust response that’s viable too

[DAWN] INDIA’S callous annexation of the disputed territory of Kashmire and the repression that it came amidst filled my heart with enormous ache as not just the millions of faceless, nameless Kashmiris were in my thoughts but also half a dozen wonderful human beings from the valley who happen to be personal friends.

Access to the occupied valley has been restricted in the best of times but unlike so many around the world who seem to have bought into Delhi’s demonisation of the Kashmiri as a bad boy, obscurantist monolith that has no place in the 21st century, my friendship with the amazing individuals I have referred to makes me see clearly the absurdity of the Indian position.

By revoking Article 370 of the Indian constitution, the BJP government has furnished evidence of its fascism

#1  The greatest achievement, apart from empowering the voiceless hordes, of Socialism not the woke, graft powered gravy-train, but genuine socio-economic justice for have-nots of history has been the mass 'existential amelioration bribe'.

The government of India seeks to bring employment, ease of doing business and economic opportunities to the entire mass of people living in this long tainted region. Right now, no one will employ a Kashmiri in India, people chase them out of establishments and institutions, they can get admissions, but the students themselves will not let them attend classes. It's terrible, and they really aren't a wicked people. Constant conflict has fashioned them into walking cacti.

There has to be a gradated inclusion into the Indian mainstream. Contrary to what people say, we want Kashmir along with Kashmiris of course we could do without 'em, but that won't be righteous. Kashmir was once one of the only regions in the subcontinent where a true sufi ethic could be seen in daily life. A bonding of hindu and muslim the likes of which no muslim or hindu nation can boast. Now, that time is long gone. Islam itself has changed, and we cannot hope to achieve unity with murderous bastiches forever susceptible to that dogma.

So, they shall have to be domesticated. And the only way to do it is take away the existential angst, and fill the void with work. Deny them the means to commit legal islamism through mandates, but give them a semblance of empowerment through self-earned money, improved lifestyle... bollywood that great weapon of reform or runaway havoc and private investment by the richest concerns in Kashmiri infrastructure and institutions.

These Pakistain writers and ideologues... they can't bare to see the dung green islamic flag go down, but they can see the Kashmiri family starve, commit suicide by cop, rent out their souls to jihad for a mere ration. To them, they are just the means to occupying real estate by proxy until China fulfills their promise of "Sure. We'll raid India together, soon... now just keep digging, Mehboob."

The 'special status' of Kashmir denied it all the socialist sops and opportunities enjoyed by the millions of beneficiaries. That changes now, bringing every Kashmiri family under several the umbrella of subsidized rations, household gas and tax-free entrepreneurship schemes. Also, education-rights, employment and property rights for women the earlier applicable shariah based laws facilitated cutting off women from property rights, easy divorce and polygamy and child marriage. The gradual gains to local farming, businesses, skilled labor and freedom to travel unquestioned as an Indian across the world will be considerable to the common man. The people will soon realize the undeniable benefits of this.

But of course, we'll kill every last f↺cker if he stands in the way of our bettering his life.
