Biden: The Second Amendment Isn't ‘Absolute'
2019-08-11
[Free Beacon] Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden on Saturday claimed none of the amendments to the Constitution are "absolute" while discussing the Second Amendment.

Biden made the remarks while participating in Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund's Presidential Gun Sense Forum in Des Moines, Iowa.

"The Second Amendment ‐ no amendment is in fact absolute," Biden said. "You cannot stand up in this hall and yell fire. That's not freedom of speech because they know the consequence of yelling fire: There'll be a stampede, and someone will get hurt."

The former Vice President also noted how the national conversation about gun control has changed, adding he has witnessed "a movement" toward change, according to the Washington Examiner.

"Folks, don't apologize at all about the Second Amendment," said Biden, explaining how the amendment allows for limitations. "These guys will tell you, ’the tree of liberty is watered with the blood of patriots.' Give me a break."

#12  1) The initial Cold War strategy by the left was impeachment. Didn't work but they will continue to blame Trump for everything under the sun.

2) New Cold War strategy by the left is to black list political donors (Castro' action) and to encourage attacks against the voters directly (Hollywood's "The Hunt").

3) Continue to import socialist foreign nationals illegally to cancel out American Citizens votes (Pelosi continues to meet with Soros backed group in Latin America).

#11  Full frontal attack against the Constitution.

#10  I think the master plan is to disenfranchise white males and weight foreigners' votes according to geographic location - the further outside the US border, the more the vote counts.

#9  Despite the hopeful signs enumerated yesterday, I still wonder if we are able to vote our way out of this. I am afraid we are fast approaching the time when we will learn how absolute these rights are.

#8  Yes you can stand up in that hall and yell FIRE. But then you are held accountable for the result of that act and any injuries and deaths. Just as you would be held responsible for firing a gun in that hall or telling everyone lies as the press and getting someone killed.
What they want is to prevent you from telling fire even if there is an actual fire. Or firing a gun to save a life, or tell the truth when it doesn't fit their narrative.

#5  Given that the Constitution is a contract between the people and the government, if one party believes it no longer will abide by the terms of that contract, the contract is no longer valid.

#4  "shall not be infringed"

#3  Actually, the rights enumerated in the Bill of Rights are absolute as the are granted by God, not the gummint. What needs to be absolute is the punishment for violating or abusing those rights, be it someone doing a mass shooting (or even just murdering one person) or a journalist using the platform he or she is on to knowingly disseminate lies. A few career death penalties in the news business would probably go a long way towards improving the quality of the product.

Tell us what the poor people think, Joe.
