#6  Ah, Starkbierzeit! I went to Paulaners. A Japanese tour group showed up, 90% girls, they were feeling a little left out, so I went over and spoke to them, and I was swarmed by cute girls because I could speak Japanese at the time. I told them I was the Shuten-Doji. They squealed with laughter. The German guys were shocked at their unexpected audacity Much hugging, mugging (by the girls) and crazy table dancing (girls again), many snapshots. I distinctly remember the girls taking over both restrooms. The beer was sweet and very strong. Major hangover.

#5  I never made it to any Oktoberfest. I did make it to what I remember as a strong beer fest. Munich? Will have to look it up.

#4  That's true. Late September usually has great weather (not always).

#3  I believe Oktoberfest has been held in September for over a century, lord garth. The story I heard long ago was that one October it snowed early, watering the beer, but it is my understanding that the last warm days of September made for a better festival than the first cool days of autumn.

#2  oddly, Oktoberfest began on Sept 21 and, at least since 2000 it has always begun in September
