Xi may face a coup |
2019-10-20 |
FTFA: [DonSurber] The newspaper reported, "In Beijing’s system, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) holds a monopoly on power. But the party leadership is not a monolithic group. CCP leaders span a range of political associations, socioeconomic backgrounds, professional credentials, geographic associations and policy preferences. Two broad camps in the leadership vigorously vie for influence and control in post-Deng China: the elitist coalition, with its core faction of princelings (leaders who come from veteran revolutionary families), and the populist coalition, which primarily consists of so-called tuanpai (leaders who advanced their careers through the Chinese Communist Youth League)." |

#6 Scuttlebutt is... he's sick. I'm trying to verify this though. Rather secretive chaps these. |

#5 Better to focus on the (real) possibility of a coup in DC than hope for the (nonexistent) possibility of a coup in Beijing. |

#4 Xi kinda screwed up though. Had himself proclaimed president for life but now faces a declining economy and a new American president who has the nerve to call bullshit on him. He must have lost some face for that. |

#3 The only way he will is if the party members fail to keep lining their pockets. Then he will face a removal by the party. As long as they get theirs, Xi is secure. |

#2 Xi isn't going to face any kind of coup. Wishful thinking by non-Chinese speakers. He's more secure than Mao ever was. |
