BREAKING: SECNAV Denies Resignation Threat
2019-11-24
[RedState] In a not quite unexpected twist, the Secretary of the Navy, Richard V. Spencer strongly denied a New York Times report (go figure) that he had threatened to resign over the CPO Gallagher case. From the article in Defense News

Navy Secretary Richard V. Spencer denied Saturday he has threatened to resign over President Donald Trump’s intervention in the case of a Navy SEAL convicted of posing for photos with a dead prisoner of war.

"Contrary to popular belief, I’m still here. I did not threaten to resign," Spencer said at the Halifax International Security Forum, where Spencer was speaking on a panel about the Arctic. "Let’s just say we are here to talk about to talk about external threats and Eddie Gallagher is not one of them."

Here’s the best part, emphasis mine

Spencer, the Navy’s top civilian, also said he would comply if Trump orders him to stop plans for a Navy hearing to decide whether to strip Special Warfare Operator Chief Edward "Eddie" Gallagher of his SEAL trident.

#9  #5 Like the press never tires of telling us re: the Second Amendment, the Constitution is a living, breathing document, and technological change mitigates against strict adherence to it.

#6  Apply same rules to media as currently apply to doctors re malpractice. Add attorneys to that list while at it.

#5  Time for 'honest' control of the media. No special regulations. In fact the removal of 'special' altogether. Make them libel for bad products like car makers, lettuce growers, et al. If you can regulate 'guns' you can regulate 'press'*.

*press in 1792 was all about the technology of information flow not the institution that co-opted the term which is more involved with distortion, suppression and fabrication of information.

#2  F---ing liars. Hit them with a libel lawsuit.

This wild carnival of nonstop libel and slander has to be shit down with a round of Sandmann-style multi-million $ libel suits.
