Late on Monday, anonymous gunmen assaulted the house of a former member of the Syrian opposition factions killing him and his wife in al-Sanamayn city in the northern countryside of Daraa, south Syria. Muhammed Jaber al-Etmeh, nicknamed ‘Saydalani’ and his wife identified as Hana’ al-Etmeh were critically injured after their house was targeted with handmade grenade dropped by unknown gunmen, local sources told North Press. The two were transferred to the hospital where they succumbed to their injuries. Al-Etmeh, who joined the opposition factions before, underwent a settlement process by the government in 2018 and he joined no military formations afterwards.
A doctor working in one of the Russian-backed factions was killed on Tuesday when an explosive device exploded against his car in the northern countryside of Daraa. “The doctor, Tha’ir Ziyad al-Balkhi, was killed as a result of the explosion of an explosive device planted in his car by unknown persons while it was in front of his house in the town of Mahja in the northern countryside of Daraa,” local sources told North Press. “The doctor worked in the ranks of the Eighth Brigade of the Russian-backed Fifth Corps. He worked in the hospital of the city of Busra al-Sham, the Brigade’s stronghold in the eastern countryside of Daraa,” the sources added. It is noteworthy that the officers of the Russian forces recruited hundreds of former members of the opposition factions from Daraa in their 8th Brigade, after the government forces entered the governorate in 2018.
A child was shot on Tuesday evening, by a member of the government forces in the northern countryside of Daraa. “The child, Yamen Hussam Qanbus, was shot in the chest by a member of the State Security detachment of the government forces, in the city of al-Hara in the northern countryside of Daraa. He was subsequently transported to Damascus hospitals,” a local source told North Press. “The officers of the government forces present in the detachment justified the shooting, saying that the child was injured by a gunshot wound by mistake,” the source added.
