| #13 The US military was in complete control of Afghanistan for 20 years. If they had wanted to stop opium production from restarting, they would have done it. But no. They allowed it to restart. Then they defended fields full of poppies from the Taliban, knowing full well those would be made into opioids and flood in to America. "But the farmers needed that income" what a bullshit excuse. With all the money we spent on Afghanistan, we could have paid them all a subsidy not to grow crops. I hear USDA does the same thing and it works great. |

| #12 Just remembered the Chinese developed many high yield poppy seeds specifically for the Afghans to cultivate for them. This was in 2015-2017. Maybe it's about quality control now? |

| #11 Yes. There were stories about creating a bio blight to kill off poppies and coca when I was in college in the 70s. Never happened. But we did get COVID. |

| #10 The CIA is going to be outraged. We could have stopped opium production from restarting after the invasion. Remember, the Taliban banned it back in the 1990s, too. But it's just too profitable. Plus, the opioids that are destroying small town America come from Afghanistan, so there's that's another point in its favor. |
