#1  When Lewis and Clark headed west they found the Great Prairie, a vast grassland. As humans in numbers moved in they brought with them their trees. You can see the islands and oasis of human habitat by the groves and forest of trees they planted. Even largely abandoned villages and homesteads today still sport their flora.
