| Sheikh Humaydi Daham, prominent figure in NE Syria, dies at 86 |

[NPASyria] The leader of the tribe of Shammar and one of the most influential figures in northeastern Syria, Sheikh Humaydi Daham al-Hadi al-Jarba, passed away on Thursday in the Kurdistan region of Iraq (KRI) after struggling with a terminal illness.Sources close to family told North Press that Sheikh Humaydi was recently visiting Belgium for treatment purposes. He arrived to KRI days ago and passed away there after his health conditions had significantly deteriorated. Sheikh Humaydi is considered one of the most notable allies with the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), and was elected as a Co-chair of al-Jazira Region in 2014. His son Bandar Humaydi Daham al-Hadi leads an armed force affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). The dear departed was born in 1936 in the village of Tel Alou in the northern countryside of Hasakah. |
