[REGNUM] The actions of the Russian forces participating in the assault on Soledar came as an unpleasant surprise for the Kyiv militants. On January 14, a fighter of the Wagner group, who took part in the liberation of the city, spoke about this in an interview with RIA Novosti.
As the fighter explained, the offensive was carried out from two sides. Assault groups of Russian forces, moving along the main direction, simultaneously punched through corridors through forest plantations from a completely unexpected direction for the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the north side. According to the fighter, the enemy did not expect a breakthrough from the north at all.
A participant in the assault on Soledar indicated that, thanks to a deliberate maneuver, the assault detachments broke into the city center from two sides at once and cut off the supply routes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“It was such a sudden maneuver for the enemy, which he did not expect at all ... Here their defense line was not thought out at all,” the Russian fighter emphasized.
