[ColonelCassad] The command of the German armed forces intends to reform the structure of the ground forces, dividing the brigades into heavy, medium and light.
The reassignment of individual brigades and battalions will begin on April 1 and will be carried out gradually, taking into account their involvement in various operations and missions.
In particular, the 23rd Mountain Infantry Brigade will be part of the rapid reaction force division (now part of the 10th Panzer Division);
363rd tank battalion in the 12th tank brigade (now in the 37th motorized infantry brigade);
212th motorized infantry battalion in the 37th motorized infantry brigade (now in the 21st tank brigade);
91st Infantry Battalion to the 21st Tank Brigade (now in the 9th Training Tank Brigade);
413th Infantry Battalion to the 21st Tank Brigade (now in the 41st Motorized Infantry Brigade).
In the future, the 1st Panzer Division will have one heavy and two medium brigades, and the 10th Panzer Division - two heavy and one medium.
In turn, all light forces: airborne troops, army special forces, and the 23rd mountain infantry brigade will be included in the rapid reaction force division.
According to the German command, reforming the structure of the ground forces into light airmobile, medium wheeled and heavy armored forces will increase the combat capability of the Bundeswehr in the current conditions.
Medium brigades will be armed only with wheeled armored vehicles and weapons systems for organizing independent deployment and advancement to the area of ​​combat use without the use of the railway network and cargo vehicles.
The Bundeswehr command believes that the medium forces will be able to provide an effective and powerful combination of striking power, mobility and defensive potential.
An armed conflict in the Suwalki corridor is considered as one of the scenarios for the use of medium forces.
However, the main problem facing the German military command is the lack of modern models of wheeled vehicles and the absence of some wheeled combat systems.
