The Court of Appeal upheld the sentence of a resident of Astrakhan, who was sentenced to 11 years in prison on charges of helping militants of a terrorist organization in Syria.The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in June 2022, a military court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced Darya Bolgova, a native of Astrakhan, to 11 years in a penal colony, finding her guilty under Part 1 of Article 205.1 (Promoting terrorist activities), Part 2 of Article 205.5 ( Participation in the activities of a terrorist organization) and part 2 of Article 208 (Participation in an armed formation).
According to the investigation and the court, Darya Bolgova joined the militants in Syria in 2013 and from 2013 to 2021 bought food for them, cooked food, ran a subsidiary farm, acted as an interpreter, for which she received a monetary reward. In addition, the court decided that Bolgova persuaded another person to join the group members via the Internet, and from 2015 to 2021 she took part in the activities of the Islamic State terrorist organization. On July 2, 2021, Bolgova was deported from Turkey to Russia.
The Court of Appeal in Moscow upheld the sentence of the native of Astrakhan, and it entered into force, the department of the TFR for the Astrakhan region reported today on its website.
