Photos Place Russian Submarine Rescue Vehicle and Mini Sub Near Nord Stream Explosion -- Sy Hersh Hardest Hit
2023-05-01
[HotAir] On September 26, 2022, Russian-owned Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines were hit by major explosions that put both pipelines out of operation. I use the term “operation,” advisedly because, due to the diplomacy surrounding Putin’s War in Ukraine, both pipelines had been shut down. It became quickly apparent that the cause of the explosions was sabotage. I cover the attacks on the pipelines in this story; Sanctions and US Opposition Couldn’t Stop Nord Stream and Russian Gas, but Sabotage Might Have Done the Job.

The obvious question was, who did it? Four suspects emerged: the United States, Ukraine, an undetermined party probably involving Poland, and Russia. But, as stated in Putin’s PR Machine Throws up Smoke as the Nord Stream Pipeline Explosion Investigation Begins, my personal view is that Russia was the most likely culprit.

#9  wouldn't a submarine rescue vehicle + mini sub be the sort of thing you would send to check out damage (as well as possibly planting charges of course)

#8  Just thinking out loud...
A submarine rescue vehicle + mini sub is the submarine equivalent of a tug. We know the Russians don't sail anywhere without a tug handy.

There is a lot of maritime traffic in the pipeline area, both civilian and military. Probably some submarines. Probably support vessels of various flavors. Maybe seeing a Rooski support vessel is like seeing deer out in the yard munching your flowers - this is the first time you noticed, but they have been doing it forever. Doesn't seem dispositive to me.

From a screenplay standpoint, the "some guys and a boat" story is the best one. If you are one of the non-state actors involved, have your people call my people and we can work out the story rights.

#5  Really? Only NOW are "photos" of a Rooski mini sub magically appear?

Oh, and does that dispel the "yacht theory" from the NY Times? Wasn't that the talk of the town a month or so ago?

The bullsh!t is just getting to be too much from all sides.

#4  If these images existed I would have thought they'd have been released long ago.
