Somaliland forces shell SSC positions in Laas'anod as fighting rages on

Outside challenges being scarcer than heretofore, Somalilanders have turned on one another rather than get on with improving their lives.

[GOOBJOOG] Somaliland forces reportedly shelled a neighbourhood in the battle-hit town of Laas’anod Saturday morning in a continuing conflict despite local and international calls for an end to the fighting.

Sources in the town said the shelling hit areas occupied by the SSC forces destroying buildings in the area.

Fighting has been going on since last December following the killing of a local politician. The UN Security Council early this month called on Somaliland to withdraw its forces from Laas’anod. On Thursday, the UN Security Council reiterated its call for an end to the fighting in the contested region.
