[BureauOfLaborStatistics] Total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 209,000 in June, and the unemployment rate changed little at 3.6 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Employment continued to trend up in government, health care, social assistance, and construction.
On the positive side, wage growth per hour and wages per week both rose faster than inflation although just barely.
On the negative side, there were major downward revisions in the previous two months’ payroll growth. Also, there was a big jump in part-time employment which is also not a good sign. |
