[REGNUM] SOVIET ERSATZ PATRIOTISM
Imperial patriotism after 1917 became a crime and was etched with blood. Instead, it was not a new love for the country and people, but a quasi-religious belief in abstraction - communism, labor, internationalism, and so on. The name of the country had no connection with the native land at all. Nationalities, if not abolished, were reduced to a rudiment. Faith was forbidden. The past was oblivion and lustration.
