  • US SUPREME COURT RULES ON LAW USED TO CHARGE PEOPLE WHO ‘ENCOURAGE’ OR ‘INDUCE’ NON-CITIZENS TO ENTER COUNTRY ILLEGALLY – The court made its ruling last month in a case involving a scammer who was charging people to enter the US under false pretenses. However, many immigrant rights groups are concerned the ruling could more broadly affect those in the non-profit, legal, law enforcement, and religious sectors in future cases.

  • A US DRONE STRIKE ON FRIDAY HAS REPORTEDLY RESULTED IN THE DEATH OF ANOTHER SENIOR ISIS LEADER IN SYRIA – US officials announced yesterday that a successful drone strike had been carried out on Friday and that Osama al-Muhajer, reputedly ISIS’s top Commander in Eastern Syria was killed. The drone used in the attack was the same type as those that have recently been harassed by Russian pilots in the region.

  • TALIBAN FOREIGN MINISTER ALLUDES TO MORE ‘FOREIGN PLOTS’ IN THE WORKS – Foreign Minister Muttaqi again rolled out suspicions of foreign schemes used to attack the legitimacy and credibility of the IEA. He urged Afghans to stand up to these conspiracies. As evidence the plots were unfounded he pointed out advancements in the national economy and claimed that the crime rate was effectively zero across the country. In his remarks, he also criticized the sanctions on the regime and called once again for the lifting of sanctions and engagement with the Taliban.

  • PERUVIAN AUTHORITIES LIBERATE 23 AFGHANS FROM HUMAN TRAFFICKERS – Officials in Peru say they interdicted a human smuggling operation along its border with Brazil and brought the 23 Afghans who had been swindled out of their money and left in a house along the border. Multiple reports continue to stream in of Afghans who use these smuggling routes to try and get to the US and Canada. Among the 23 Afghans were four children, one of which was a two-month-old baby.
