Boys Not Allowed in Girls' Choir
2023-07-13
[ CitizensDefendingFreedom via Bongino] Citizens Defending Freedom, a nonprofit focused on protecting the faith and freedom of Americans, is celebrating after the Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts (FWAFA) rejected a push by LGBT activists to allow boys to join the Singing Girls of Texas choir.

The FWAFA School Board also barred girls from joining the Texas Boys Choir. In late June, the School Board voted 4-3 in favor of using biological sex to separate the choirs, despite the fact that LGBT activists wanted gender identity to be the defining factor.
Dunno. Think they missed a bet here. How many girls choirs have a strong bass section?
Boys and girls both generally sing in the alto-soprano range until the boys’ voices change… though one of the boys in the chorus the trailing daughters sang with in high school had a sopranista — a normal mature male who naturally sings in the soprano range (a very high tenor not needing falsetto to achieve the sound). His speaking voice was normal, but he sang in the soprano section — and because of the greater volume of the male chest cavity, his solos sounded as eerie as a glass harmonica.
“This is another great win for kids and parents in Tarrant County,” said Kenya Ayoub Alu, executive director of Citizens Defending Freedom - Tarrant County. “We’re simply standing up for common sense. Boys should not be allowed to sing in the girls’ choir, and girls should not be allowed to sing in the boys’ choir. A simple solution would be to establish a co-ed choir in addition to the girls’ choir and boys’ choir.
Yes. The answer to many such situations.
To us, it is absurd that we even have to have this debate, but as long as the liberal activists keep pushing their agenda, we will keep fighting back.”

#2  Freedom of Association is a neglected right. Competitions should have the ability to create rules that make sense to themselves. When I was in high school, a wrestling coach once tried to recruit me, for instance. I did not have the option of identifying as 126 pounds, so my chances of domination were not great. Weight classes, steroids bans and religious restrictions make sense in many situations and are Constitutionally protected. The banning of biological males from women’s sports and, in particular, women’s locker rooms is legal based on my understanding of the right of association.
Choir restrictions ought to be able to be controlled by a governing body within a state. I don’t see a reason why even chess club could be divided by sex or not depending on what the participants want. For consistency I would not even balk at African American student who demand separate housing or college graduation ceremonies. Unfortunately, that opens the door for white supremicists that want similar treatment. I would probably issue those guys some really special looking diplomas that would make them easily discernible.
