Clashes between SNA factions in Syria's Tel Abyad leave casualties
2023-07-29
[NPASYRIA] Fierce festivities erupted on Friday between Ottoman Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, known as the Syrian National Army (SNA), in the Ottoman Turkish border city of Tel Abyad in Raqqa Governorate.

The factions clashed on the control of the border crossing. They resulted in the killing of two Lions of Islam and the injury of six others.

The city of Tel Abyad in northern Syria has been under the occupation of the Ottoman Turkish forces and has been controlled by the SNA factions since 2019 following the so-called "Peace Spring" military operation that aimed to push away the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) under the pretext of protecting the Ottoman Turkish national security.

"Militants of the al-Jabha al-Shamiya (Levant Front) and Faylaq al-Majd (Majd Crops) attacked the border crossing to take control over it," a security source told North Press.

The festivities lasted for about two hours, and led to the killing of two Lions of Islam of the al-Jabha al-Shamiya and the injury of six others, the source said.

After the festivities, the SNA’s Military Police faction and the Ottoman Turkish forces cordoned off the area and imposed a state of de-conflict, according to the source.
