(ISIS) leader in a raid conducted on his residence in Raqqa Governorate, northern Syria.
The SDF Media Center said in a statement that SDF Anti-Terrorism Units (YAT), supported by the US-led Global Coalition and with the participation of forces of Sulaymaniyah-headquartered Counter-Terrorism Group (CTG) in Kurdistan Region of Iraq, conducted "a security operation in the heart of Raqqa City."
The statement said the operation targeted "the terrorist Ibrahim al-Ali aka Abu Mujahid, the ISIS official of the Eastern region" after raiding the building in which he was hiding.
According to the statement, the ISIS leader refused to surrender and began clashing with the SDF fighters, resulting in his killing.
That makes it easier for all involved, to be sure.
The forces confiscated several weapons and military equipment during the operation.The SDF concluded that their forces, partnered with the Global Coalition, are committed to continuing their pursuit of ISIS leaders across different areas of northeast Syria.
ISIS lost its final stronghold in Syria in March 2019.
