The common misconception is that all the water decreases friction allowing movement. These quakes are miles deep so no water intrusion as a direct cause.

Water may have an impact on earthquakes where tectonic plates converge. e.g. Taiwan. In Kaliphornia, the plates slip past each other.

The real danger here is that within 10M years, LA and SF will merge and become a giant shit hole of a place rather that 2 smaller ones as Democrats will still be in charge.
