Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled attacks by Russian troops in the Vugledar district of the Donetsk region in the Shakhtarskyi direction.
This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine .
During the day, the aviation of the Defense Forces made 12 strikes on personnel concentration areas and one on the enemy's anti-aircraft missile complex. Units of missile forces and artillery hit the anti-aircraft missile complex and three artillery pieces at the enemy's firing positions.
Over the course of the day, the enemy launched two missile and 62 air strikes, fired 89 rocket salvo fire strikes at the positions of our troops and populated areas. As a result of successful combat operations, the forces and means of the Air Force destroyed two Kalibr cruise missiles and four Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs.

The situation at the front as of 18:00 on August 26 is as follows:
on the Volyn and Poliske directions, the operational situation has not changed significantly;
on Siverskyi and Slobozhanskyi, the enemy carried out an air strike in the Udiv district of the Kharkiv region. He carried out mortar and artillery shelling of more than 25 settlements, in particular, Liskivshchyna, Bohdanov, Chernihiv region;
Seredyna-Buda, Kucherivka, Khodyne, Stepne, Myropilske of the Sumy region and Zybyne, Okhrimivka, Varvarivka, Grachovka, Ambarne of the Kharkiv region;
on Kupyansk, the enemy carried out airstrikes in the Kislivka and Pischany districts of the Kharkiv region. The settlements of Hryanikyvka, Synkivka, Kupyansk, Orlyanske of the Kharkiv region were subjected to enemy artillery and mortar attacks;
on Lymansky, the enemy carried out unsuccessful offensive actions in the districts of Novoyehorivka and Beilogorivka, Luhansk region. He carried out airstrikes in the areas of Shiykivka, Cherneshchyna, Chervony Stav of the Kharkiv region, Tverdokhlibovo, Makiivka of the Luhansk region, and Spirny, Vesely, and Yampol of the Donetsk region. More than 30 settlements were hit by artillery fire from the enemy, in particular, Nevske, Bilogorivka of the Luhansk Region and Svyat Pokrovske, Zvanivka, Viimka, Rozdolivka of the Donetsk Region;
on Bakhmutskyi, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the districts of Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Ivanivskyi, and Klishchiivka of the Donetsk region. More than 25 settlements were affected by enemy artillery fire, among them Kurdyumivka, Bila Gora, Diliivka, Oleksandro-Shultine, Druzhba of the Donetsk region;
on Avdiivskyi, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the Pervomaysky district of the Donetsk region. The settlements of Novokalynove, Stepove, Avdiivka, Severne, Pervomaiske, Nevelske of the Donetsk region were hit by artillery fire;
on Maryinka Defense forces continue to hold back the advance of Russian troops in the Maryinka region of Donetsk region. The enemy carried out an airstrike in the Krasnohorivka area of ​​the Donetsk region. The settlements of Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, Kurakhove, Novomykhailivka, Kostyantynivka, Gostre of the Donetsk region were hit by artillery fire;
on Shakhtarsky, the enemy carried out airstrikes in the Vugledar, Vremivka, Blagodatny, Staromayorsky, and Urozhany districts of the Donetsk region. More than 10 settlements were affected by enemy artillery shelling, among them: Vugledar, Novoukrainka, Urozhaine, Rivnopil, Blagodatne, Privilne, Burlatske of the Donetsk region;
in Zaporizhzhia, the enemy carried out airstrikes in the districts of Mala Tokmachka, Robotyny, and Novodanilivka of Zaporizhzhia region. More than 20 settlements were affected by the enemy's artillery shelling, among them: Gulyaipole, Zaliznychne, Gulyaipilske, Charivne, Lukyanivske, Plavni of the Zaporizhzhia region;
in the Kherson region , Khreshchenivka, Olhivka, Mykilske, Kherson, Dniprovske, Kizomys of the Kherson region were affected by enemy artillery fire.
The Defense Forces of Ukraine continue to conduct an offensive operation in the Melitopol direction, are entrenched at the achieved boundaries, and carry out counter-battery countermeasures.
It will be recalled that the commander of the Ground Forces Oleksandr Syrsky announced the day before that the operational situation in the Eastern direction remains tense. After a month of fierce battles and significant losses of the Russians in the Kupyansk and Lymansk directions, the enemy is regrouping its forces and means, at the same time transferring the newly formed brigades and divisions from the territory of the Russian Federation.
Ukrainian intelligence has released an intercepted conversation of the occupiers, in which they alarmedly report on the repeated landing of Ukrainian troops, which took place in the western part of the peninsula near Lake Donuzlav.
