Ventura County Sheriff Jim Fryhoff began by expressing his condolences to the family and friends of the now-deceased victim. "On Nov. 5, 2023, at approximately 3:20 in the evening, the sheriff's communication center received multiple calls regarding a possible assault in an unconscious male who was bleeding at the intersection of Thousand Oaks Boulevard and West Lake Boulevard in the city of Thousand Oaks," Fryhoff said. "Flyers distributed on social media indicated a demonstration for freedom for Paleostine protest and the counter protest was led by we are pro Israel. There were an estimated 75 to 100 people at the demonstration between both groups." Fryhoff said that the suspect of the homicide had dialed 911 himself, and was cooperative during the incident. He also revealed that a search warrant was executed on the suspect's home. The lethal hit came from blunt force trauma on the back of the head, according to chief medical examiner Chris R. Young, who also spoke during the presser. The Sheriff told news hounds they still do now know if a blow to the face, which was acknowledged by the chief medical examiner, caused the fall.
