Horrifying image shows active-duty airman engulfed in flames outside the Israeli embassy in DC after shouting 'Free Palestine' and accusing the US of being 'complicit in genocide' in Gaza
2024-02-26
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] A serving US Air Force officer is in a critical condition in hospital after setting himself on fire outside the Israeli embassy in DC and livestreaming the results.
Unfortunately, not everyone who volunteers to wear the uniform is is wise and insightful. A few are idiots or mentally ill.
Horrifying video was broadcast uploaded to social media channel Twitch on Saturday afternoon after the man dressed in combat fatigues declared 'I will no longer be complicit in genocide'.
Aren’t y’all supposed to avoid wearing the uniform when engaging in politics?
Flames spread over the man's body after he shouted: 'I am about to engage in an extreme act of protest,' before repeatedly shouting 'Free Palestine!'

Authorities responded to the embassy around 1 p.m. on Sunday and found the man with burn injuries, the Metropolitan Police Department told DailyMail.com.

He was taken to the hospital by DC Fire and EMS with 'critical and life-threatening injuries.'

A spokesperson for the US Air Force confirmed to Task & Purpose that the man in uniform is an active-duty airman. The airman’s identity has not been confirmed.
Identified as Aaron Bushnell, 25, USAF active duty in the IT department. Thanks to Frank G and M. Murcek for the links in comments below.

#21  In Gaza, I mean... though if you wanna weigh in on the self-immolati9n gender breakdown, that'd be cool, too.

#20  Hey, Herb, you're obviously a well-informed, intelligent observer, so help us out here. What's your good faith guesstimate of casualties so far?

#19  Newsweek article includes Aaron Bushnell’s final post: “What would I do if I was alive during slavery?”
"Many of us like to ask ourselves, "What would I do if I was alive during slavery? Or the Jim Crow South? Or apartheid? What would I do if my country was committing genocide?" The answer is, you're doing it.

The page is gone, but we have screenshots. Israel shut it down.

#9  The protester was identified on Sunday by the independent journalist Talia Jane as Aaron Bushnell, 25, an active-duty service member of the US Air Force, who, from a public LinkedIn profile, appeared to work in the service’s IT department.

Late Sunday night, Jane reported that Bushnell had succumbed to the wounds sustained in the self-immolation.

Good he eliminated himself from the Gene Pool.

But looking further down the road.
What if he had access to USAF weapons or planes?

Doesn't the DOD still do annual Mental Health evaluations, or was that tossed out with the now Pronoun mandate.

#4  Not line of duty.

BTW, far more people in this country have died of the 'jab' than in Gaza.

#3  ...I've seen a few posts elsewhere that indicate this guy is an enlisted IT type, who was also on his way out - end of enlistment.
