[Regnum] Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, during a working trip to the troops of the Southern Military District, ordered the installation of additional firepower on ships to destroy enemy drones, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported on March 17.
It is noted that Shoigu, as part of a working trip to the command post of the Black Sea Fleet, heard reports from the fleet command and headquarters officers on the current situation, the nature of enemy actions and the performance of combat missions by fleet units in their area of responsibility.
“The head of the Russian military department ordered the installation of additional fire weapons, large-caliber machine-gun rifle systems to destroy enemy drones,” the Russian defense department said.
Shoigu also set the task of conducting constant training with personnel both during the day and at night to repel enemy terrorist attacks and increase the survivability of ships and vessels.
As Regnum reported, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg previously stated in the annual NATO security report that Ukraine used missiles supplied by alliance countries to attack ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet during the last two years of the conflict.
He admitted that “Ukrainian strikes on the ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet” were carried out by “SCALP and Storm Shadow missiles,” which were supplied to Kyiv by the North Atlantic Alliance states.
On February 9, a Russian patrol boat of the Black Sea Fleet discovered and destroyed an unmanned boat of the Ukrainian Navy in the Black Sea using standard weapons. The enemy ship was moving towards Crimea.
