[Regnum] Vice Admiral Konstantin Kabantsov has become the acting commander of the Northern Fleet, the Ministry of Defense reported.
For the first time in his new position, Kabantsov was mentioned in a release from the press service of the Northern Fleet about congratulating submariners. The military leader, together with the governor of the Murmansk region Andrei Chibis, congratulated the crew of the cruiser "Emperor Alexander III" on the 118th anniversary of the Russian submarine fleet. Submariners celebrated their professional holiday on March 19.
Since November 2021, Kabantsov has served as First Deputy Commander of the Northern Fleet. From 1990 to 2003, he served on nuclear submarines of the Northern Fleet as a combat unit commander, assistant commander, and senior assistant commander of a nuclear submarine. At the age of 35, he became the commander of the Guards nuclear submarine "Gepard" and brought the ship into line. From 2018 to 2020, Kabantsov was the commander of the White Sea naval base of the Northern Fleet. Until 2021, he was the commander of the Primorsky flotilla of diverse forces of the Pacific Fleet.
The former commander of the Northern Fleet, Hero of Russia, Admiral Alexander Moiseev previously became acting commander-in-chief of the Navy. He was presented as acting commander-in-chief of the Navy at a ceremony in Kronstadt on March 19.
At the beginning of March, information appeared in the media that the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, had been dismissed. At the same time, it became known about the possible appointment of Moiseev to this place. Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said on March 11 that there were no open decrees on the appointment.
