2024-04-13 |
[Times of SD] The trouble-plagued USS Boxer has returned to San Diego after experiencing a new equipment problem during its first deployment in five years, according to media reports. The amphibious assault ship carrying elements of the Camp Pendleton-based 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit had left April 1 but is now docked at North Island. The U.S. Naval Institute, a nonprofit military association, said the latest problem is with the ship’s rudder and repairs will take two to three weeks. |

#6 Via Le Wiki: USS Boxer (LHD-4) is a Wasp-class amphibious assault ship of the United States Navy.[2] She is the sixth U.S. ship to bear the name of the original HMS Boxer, which was captured from the British during the War of 1812. You scared me there for a second, Rex! Shades of the USS Harvey Milk, and all. |
