Mary Landrieu: My Multimillion-Dollar Home Is Not a Mansion | ||
2014-10-22 | ||
At a campaign event in Bogalusa, La., this weekendâ, Landrieu called a woman up on stage to explain that the 7,300 square-foot house doesn't qualify as a mansion, and then interrupted the woman to add that she lives next to the cleaners and her home is only 36 feet wide. "They say I live in a mansion," Landrieu said. "It's a townhome, which I also have a home in New Orleans."

#14 The salary of Congresscritters is $174,000/year. Let me know how you become a millionaire on $174,000/year. Is this like Hillary turning $1000 into $100,000 by wise investing in cattle futures (sarc)? Democrats are just smart about other people's money and they don't pay their taxes? |

#13 She rented a tired appaloosa And strapped on a borrowed papoosa: "How now, darkskinned brother! It's me, Great White Mother, Come back to embrace Bogalusa." |

#12 Three stories, OK. Then you only have a little over 20 yards. That takes her out of the bowling alley business. Poor girl. |

#10 I guess the stables are off to one side? Or maybe she just calls a Hansom cab? Come, Watson, the game is afoot! |

#9 There are some cities that taxed houses based on the frontage - the width of the house. The solution was to build narrow but deep houses. Ms Landrieu's house may be like that. |

#8 So for perspective, that's 67.66666666666667 yards. Not quite as long as a football field but pretty long for a house. Did I miss something? Give the thing three stories (public rooms on the ground floor, private rooms upstairs, staff work rooms (kitchen, etc) in the basement), then recalculate. |

#7 Actually, my first choice was Dry Prong, but I was afraid someone would view that as a microaggression. |

#6 Maybe she should open a bowling alley. |

#5 Wait a minute. If the house is only 36 feet wide but it has 7,316 square feet then how long is it? Oh, that's right, I have a calculator on my computer. Let's see, 7316 divided by 36 equals 203.2222222222222222222222. So for perspective, that's 67.66666666666667 yards. Not quite as long as a football field but pretty long for a house. Did I miss something? |

#4 Probably wanted to use Grosse Tete, but discretion got the better of him. |

#3 You just wanted to work Bogalusa into the conversation. Understandable actually. |

#2 I'm sure the folks who work at the paper mill in Bogalusa were really impressed with this argument. |

#1 My father's house has many mansions And one or two minor expansions: The wing built for me Stretches right to DC And the pull of its lunar attractions. |
