Attacks Kill 9 People In Iraq
2014-11-29
[Ynet] Authorities in Iraq say bombings and a shooting have killed nine people around the capital, Baghdad.

Police officials say the first attack took place Friday morning when a bomb went kaboom! near a market in Baghdad's northeastern suburb of Husseiniyah, killing four people and wounding nine others.

Just north of Baghdad, a kaboom targeting an outdoor market killed three people and maimed 12 others in the Sabaa al-Bour area.

Also, gunnies in a speeding car sprayed an army checkpoint with bullets, killing two soldiers and wounding two others in in the town of Tarmiyah, 50 kilometers (30 miles) north of Baghdad.

#17  Ebbomosh Hupemp2664 has found a wonderful source for the happenings in Kobani, just as badanov has for the Ukraine (which he is translating himself, in many cases). If anyone finds something similar for Iraq, that would be marvelous -- I am not looking forward to what we will discover when the information finally gets out to the normal channels.

joal asked a legitimate question. There was a time when the news flowed a good deal more freely.

Obviously you prefer not to report.

#14  Since when does an investigation of a few bad guards having a wild night or two in Abu-Graib make the news back then?

For 18 solid months?

#12   Since when does killing 9 people in Iraq make the news these days?

Oh, goody. We have a graduate of the Columbia School of Journalism among the readership.

Reporting out of Iraq appears to be awfully spotty these days, jpal. As far as I can tell, vast swathes of events in the IS territory will never get out to the open sources we use as civilians until after the forces of good reconquer it, if then. Even masses of dead bodies tell few tales beyond the fact and kind of their killing. And on the other side, we only seem to get a few sentences every now and again of what the Shiite militias are doing in turn to the Sunnis they happen across, though it seems they are not much kinder. Finally, there are the Iranian generals and now Hizb'allah wandering the landscape, doing heaven knows what.

So when we see an item in a news source we trust, we publish it, as being better than nothing.

Excellebnt PPT Ebbo. Try to keep the story box to one inch and fifty words or less, add the, cardinal direction arrow, scale, and classification markings and you're good-to-hook.

#8  Kurdish forces have appealed to Turkey to not allow ISIS to attack from Turkish soil or Kurdish forces will take control of those areas on Turkish soil ISIS is occupying.

I wonder if President Erdogan will be bold enough to send the army into the situation, or if he'll continue his passive-aggressive nonsense...

Good work, Ebbomosh Hupemp2664. We now have an article up from the professional reporters, catching up to your several posts back.

#3  ISIS suicide bombers hit the border crossing from the Turkish side of the gate. Terrorists then attacked from grain silos on the Turkish side of the gate. The Kurdish forces repelled the attack. Approximately 40 ISIS bodies were left behind by ISIS.

Kurdish forces had to cross into Turkish soil to expel ISIS.

The battle lasted up to 6 hours.

Director of Syrian Observatory calls it a Turkish/ISIS attack on Kobane.

#1  URGENT: ISIS is attacking Kobane from Turkish soil. Suicide truck bombs hit the border crossing. Violent and intense clashes between ISIS forces and Kurdish YPG/YPJ are on going with ISIS forces unexpectedly being allowed to attack Kobane from Turkish soil.
