NBCUniversal cuts ties with Donald Trump
2015-06-30
[MONEY.CNN] NBCUniversal, under pressure from an array of Hispanic groups, is severing its business ties to presidential candidate Donald Trump.

The Miss USA pageant, scheduled for July 12, will no longer air on the network. Nor will the Miss Universe pageant, scheduled for next January. Both pageants were, until now, jointly owned by NBC and Trump.

"At NBC, respect and dignity for all people are cornerstones of our values," the company said in a statement on Monday. "Due to the recent derogatory statements by Donald Trump regarding immigrants, NBCUniversal is ending its business relationship with Mr. Trump."

Speaking to news hounds after a campaign event in reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
... home of Al Capone, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel,...
, Trump said he had enjoyed a "great" relationship with NBC but would not back down on his views about immigration. Trump told CNN correspondent Athena Jones that he may sue NBC.

#12  As an example "Voy a caZar esos dos tortolitos" (I am goint to hunt these two doves). "Voy a caSar esos dos tortolitos" (I am going to celebrate a marriage between those two young lovers)

Now I know something about Argentina that I did not before. Thank you, JFM.

#11  It won't be hard to boycott NBC. I never watch it anyway.

I'll have to start watching it so I can boycott it.

#10  Yeah, I remember the time Trump started mouthing off in a bar I was in about Mexicans and I had to kick his ass and teach him a lesson. In fact, I think I did it twice. Or was it three times?

#8  Depends, TW. A few days ago I had the occasion to speak with a woman and I only guessed she was not Spanish when she used a word no longer used in Spain. In fact she was Argentinian but from Cordoba. Unlike in Buenos Aires population comes mostly not from Spain but from Italy and speaks with some italian-like sounds, in Cordoba people are from Spanish stock and use Spanish sounds without the long tonic syllabs of central Americans, and with diferentiated S and Z.

As an example "Voy a caZar esos dos tortolitos" (I am goint to hunt these two doves). "Voy a caSar esos dos tortolitos" (I am going to celebrate a marriage between those two young lovers)

#7  In front of E and I it is prounced S but with the tongue between the teeth. You need to be able to make it sound different since there is a second S-like sound (this one like the English S) and some words change meaning depending on what S sound you use.

That pronunciation guide is only valid for Old World Spanish (Spain), dear JFM. In the New World former colonies, the soft C sounds exactly like an S, the lisped S being considered a mark of the effete former rulers. On the other hand, New Worlders are equal opportunity mockers, taking on the overly enunciated Mexicans and the ts of Chile with similar glee... or so my university Spanish instructors informed us.

#6  Ok, Frigos listen to me instead.

C is pronounced K only in front of A, U, O or a consonant. In front of E and I it is prounced S but with the tongue between the teeth. You need to be able to make it sound different since there is a second S-like sound (this one like the English S) and some words change meaning depending on what S sound you use.

#4  Is it bad to hope that Trump buys NBC and fires them all?

#1  OK gringos, listen up.

N - The letter eñe is used with words such as "piñata," "jalapeño" and "piña colada".
B - Spanish "b" closely resembles the "b" in the word "boy," except that the lips are held tense.
C - Spanish "c" closely resembles the English "k" sound.

Your next leftist liberal language lesson will be in Arabic أمريكي.
