ISIS blows up oil well in Kirkuk
2015-10-08
[ARA] Militants of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) have blown up an oil well in Kirkuk province in northern Iraq, officials said on Wednesday.

The Death Eater group has reportedly bombed an oil well that belonged to the state-run North Oil Company (NOC) in western Kirkuk.

An Iraqi security official told ARA News that the turbans have used improvised bombs to bomb the well no.2 of the Khabaz oil field in Hawija area in Kirkuk.

"The kaboom caused a large fire in the oil well in the Khabaz field, which is considered one of the largest oil fields in Iraq," the source said.

The Khabaz field includes some 55 oil wells and produces more than 20,000 barrels of oil per day.

This comes amid a remarkable decline of ISIS holy warrior group in Kirkuk province, where Kurdish Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi army have recently regained dozens of villages after battles with ISIS.

"The Daesh (ISIS) terrorist group tries to compensate its losses by hitting economic resources in Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
such as oil wells," Kurdish journalist Ahmed Muhammed told ARA News.

"The Peshmerga forces have made remarkable gains against ISIS in the last few weeks. Daesh could only launch such cowardly attacks," he said.
