| Egypt’s Sisi may run for re-election |

| [ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Egyptian president Abdel-Fattah al-Sissi for the first time on Tuesday publicly expressed his willingness to run for a second presidential term in the 2018 elections "if it is the will of the Egyptian people," Ahram Online reported. And you can bet your bottom Egyptian pound that it will be. Sisi announced his possible re-election bid in a statement on his official Facebook page. Using a quote from an interview he gave to national newspapers, the Egyptian president said that he "can never fail to respond to the will of Egyptians. I am subject to the will of the Egyptian people." Sisi was first elected to office by a landslide 96.1 per cent in May 2014 after years of political instability and street protests. Under the Egyptian constitution, he qualifies for one more four-year term, if he is re-elected in 2018. |
