Afghanistan
Another Taliban own goal, this time in Helmand
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] At least three anti-government armed Death Eaters were killed in an kaboom triggered by their own explosives in southern Helmand

province of Afghanistan.

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) said the incident took place in Kajaki district as the Death Eaters were planting Improvised Explosive Device (IED) to target the convoy of the Afghan forces.

This comes as at least two Death Eaters were blown up by their own explosives in a similar incident in western Herat

province of Afghanistan few days earlier.

The anti-government armed bully boy groups have not commented regarding the report so far.

The Talibs and other Lion of Islam groups are frequently using Improvised Explosive Device (IED) as the weapon of their choice to target the security forces which normally lead to civilian casualties.

IED attacks largely contribute to civilian casualties in the country despite it remains one of the deadly weapons used against the Afghan forces.

According to the latest UN report on civilian casualties, the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) remained one of the top causes of civilian deaths in the country during the year 2015, which saw 3,545 deaths and 7,457 casualties.

15 kidnapped de-miners released in Herat province
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] At least 15 de-miners kidnapped by unknown gunnies in western Herat

province have been released from the captivity, local officials said.

Provincial police chief General Majeed Rozi said the de-miners belonged to HALO Trust and were kidnapped on Friday from Kohsan district.

The de-miners were released during an operation which was launched immediately after they were kidnapped by the gunnies.

No group including the Talibs has so far grabbed credit behind the incident.

Local officials earlier blamed Taliban group commanders Mullah Haidar and Mullah Toofan for kidnapping the de-minders. However,
Caliphornia hasn't yet slid into the ocean, no matter how hard it's tried...
the Taliban group has not commented in this regard so far.

Herat is among the relatively peaceful provinces in west of Afghanistan but the anti-government armed myrmidon groups have increased insurgency activities during the recent months.

This comes as murderous Moslems loyal to Mullah Akhtar Mansoor and dissident Taliban leader Mullah Mohammad Rasool killed nearly 200 murderous Moslems of each other during an infighting that lasted for almost a week last month.

Key Jihadist Leader Arrested in Southern Mali
[AnNahar] Southern Mali's suspected jihadist leader has been locked away
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
by special forces and transferred to the capital Bamako, security sources said Thursday.

"Souleymane Keita, the top jihadist leader in the south of the country, was arrested a few days ago on the Mauritanian border, and transferred to Bamako on Wednesday," a security source said.

Another security source said the arrest, near the town of Sokolo, followed the capture of one of his allies a few months ago in the center of the country.

"He was about to head to Timbuktu, probably to meet up with his mentor Iyad Ag Ghaly in the Kidal region" in north-east Mali, the source said, referring to the Tuareg leader of the Islamist Ansar Dine group.

Malian intelligence has said Keita and Ag Ghaly fought side by side in 2012 when jihadist forces seized the vast northern stretches of Mali.

But when French troops stepped in to oust the Islamists in January 2013, Keita headed south to his native region to set up a new group, the Khaled Ibn al-Walid "katiba", meaning combattant unit.

The group, also known as "Ansar Dine of the South", has some 200 fighters, a Malian security source said.

In March 2015, security services accused him of heading a jihadist military training camp discovered outside Bamako.

Keita was also accused last year of attacks in Fakola and Misseni near the Ivory Coast border and of "terrorist attacks" in the capital.

ISIS attacks oilfield, murders two more in Sirte
Tripoli, 2 April 2016:

IS terrorists killed two guards in a hit and run oilfield attack, murdered two more prisoners in Sirte and reportedly lost several men in air strikes on two targets in the town.

According to the Petroleum Facilities Guard, two of their men died when an IS convoy of around ten trucks descended on the Beda oilfield. PFG spokesman Ali Al-Hassi told Reuters that two of their men were killed. The attack on the field, some 250 kilometres south of Ras Lanuf, was reportedly beaten off.

This is not the first assault on oil facilities that IS has mounted, In January a raid near Maradah saw the abduction of six workers and serious damage to one of the main oil pipelines.

Meanwhile yesterday in Sirte, IS reportedly executed two more prisoners after Friday prayers. Though details of the murders are sketchy, social media posts say the victims were two brothers, brothers Amhemad and Mohamed Lody Mochtar Amdani who had been held for three months. Unusually, IS have not put up any corroborative pictures of the murders.

Similar uncertainty surrounds two airstrikes that are said to have taken place in Sirte today. The warplanes which were unidentified supposedly hit targets at the port and an area to the east of the town. The news agency LANA said a resident had claimed that the raids had caused a “heavy loss of life” and that black palls of smoke hung over the targeted areas.

Arabia
Houthis defeated Soddys in Rabboua
Saudi activist on social media, Mujtahid, confessed that Yemeni army and popular committees managed to defeat Saudi-led forces in the Yemeni border area of Rabboua.

Mujtahid, who is a well-known source in the Saudi royal family, said on his Twitter account that the Yemeni allied forces captured a Saudi colonel and many soldiers.

Yemeni army and popular committees“Unfortunately, Houthis managed following the collapse of the ceasefire to capture several Saudi forces, including Colonel Abdullah Fahd al-Qahtani, during a confrontation in Rabboua town,” Mujtahid tweeted.

Riyadh launched the attack on Yemen in a bid to restore power to fugitive president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi who is a close ally to Saudi Arabia.

However, Yemeni army, backed by the committees has been engaged in battles with Saudi-led mercenaries and Hadi’s militias in several areas across the country.

Belgian authorities arrest third suspect in foiled terror attack plotted for France
[WASHINGTONPOST] Belgian federal prosecutors confirmed Saturday that a third suspect in Belgium has been charged in connection with plotting what officials are calling a major terrorist attack on La Belle France.

The suspect, identified only as "Y.A.," was taken into custody on Friday. Prosecutors said that Y. A. is a Belgian citizen born May 4, 1982, making the suspect 33, but declined to provide further information "in the interest of the investigation."

The arrest comes as part of the same investigation that led to the March 24 arrest of Reda Kriket, 34, in the Gay Paree suburb of Argenteuil, and another suspect in the Netherlands a few days later.

Two other suspects have been jugged
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
in Belgium for colluding with Kriket: a man authorities have identified only as Rabah M., 34, and Abderahmane Ameroud, 38. Both were arrested in Brussels on March 25 and both are Algerian citizens.

In the apartment Kriket occupied in Argenteuil, police discovered assault rifles, handguns and explosives -- including TATP, the type of explosive that has become a trademark of Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. jihadists. The substance was used in both the November attacks on Gay Paree and in the Brussels attacks.

At the time of Kriket’s arrest, French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said the apprehended suspect was in the "advanced stages" of planning an attack in conjunction with "a terrorist network."

Dutch authorities, at the insistence of their French counterparts, arrested a French citizen, Anis Bahri, 32, in Rotterdam on March 27. Authorities say Bahri was involved in plotting the La Belle France attack.

Although the extent of Kriket’s network remains unclear, he was sentenced in Belgium in absentia in July 2015 to 10 years in prison, for being part of a jihadist channel stemming from Syria. Also sentenced in absentia was Abdelhamid Abaaoud, a ringleader of the November terrorist attacks in Gay Paree who was killed five days later in a police raid in a Gay Paree suburb.

After the March 22 attacks on the Brussels airport and the city’s metro line, Belgium remains on the highest level of alert. The climate of palpable anxiety has resulted in increased security throughout the capital, where on Saturday police detained protesters for attempting to break an imposed ban on demonstrations.

Turkish coastguard halts migrants as preparations for EU deal begin

's coastguard stopped nearly 200 people trying to reach Greece on Saturday, underlining the challenge security forces face in convincing migrants colonists contemplating the voyage that they will not be allowed to enter the EU.

A controversial European Union

deal to return refugees and migrants colonists who landed on the Greek islands in the last fortnight to Turkey is due to take force on Monday.

National elections have been periodically scheduled and cancelled; none have ever been held in the country. The president, Isaias Afewerki, has been in office since independence in 1993 and will probably die there of old age...
ns, Syrians, Iranian and Lebanese people were halted on Saturday as they headed to the Greek island of Chios from Cesme in Turkey in two dinghies, local news agency Dogan reported.

Another group of 63 were stopped as they attempted to travel to Greece's Lesbos from the Turkish coastal town of Dikili. Rooters Television pictures showed the men, women and kiddies sitting in a white tent after being caught, shielding their faces, with a heap of orange life-jackets piled outside.

Disagreements over how to deal with hundreds of thousands of migrants colonists from Syria and elsewhere threatens to tear the 28-nation EU apart, making the deal with Turkey critical to resolving the crisis.

Turkey agreed last month to take back all migrants colonists and refugees who crossed informally into Greece after March 20 in exchange for financial aid, visa-free travel for Turks and slightly accelerated bloc-membership talks.

Turkish police capture suspected car bomber who targeted police
[AlAhrah] Turkish authorities on Saturday detained a key suspect in a bombing that killed seven people and maimed 23 on Thursday in the strife-torn southeast, security sources said.

Eight members of the security forces were killed on Saturday in separate festivities around the mainly Kurdish region, they also reported.

The outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) grabbed credit for Thursday's bombing in the city of Diyarbakir, one day before Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu visited the city and outlined plans to confiscate and rebuild a historic neighbourhood wrecked in fighting since July.

Sources said police apprehended a man they believe parked the bomb-laden car and detonated it when a minibus carrying coppers passed it on a busy street. On Friday, authorities placed in durance vile

nine people in connection with the bombing.

Six coppers were killed in the town of Nusaybin on the Syrian border on Saturday after suspected PKK snuffies blew up a building they were searching, security sources said. Four police were being treated for injuries in hospital.

A police officer from a combat unit was also killed in Yuksekova near the Iraqi border, where security forces began operations and imposed a round-the-clock curfew on March 13.

A soldier was killed in the town of Sirnak, the military said on its website.

The predominately Kurdish southeast of The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

has seen the worst violence in two decades since the PKK abandoned a two-year ceasefire in July and resumed its armed campaign for autonomy. The government says more than 5,000 snuffies and almost 400 soldiers and police have been killed.

Opposition parties estimate that between 500 and 1,000 civilians have also been killed in the fighting, largely concentrated in densely populated urban centres.

Late on Friday, snuffies used a boom-mobile to strike a military outpost near the town of Kiziltepe by the Syrian frontier. One civilian was killed and 13 people maimed, including three children and two soldiers.

Home Front: WoT
Obama admits US drone strikes killed civilians
President Barack Obama admitted that “civilians were killed that shouldn’t have been” in past US drone strikes, but added they were now “very cautious” about striking where women or children are present.

He said that there was “no doubt” that civilians were killed in drone strikes targeting extremist camps but said that over the last few years, the administration has worked to prevent civilian deaths.

Speaking at a news conference at the nuclear security summit in Washington, he said: “In situations of war, you know, we have to take responsibility when we’re not acting appropriately.”

Recent drone and other airstrikes against extremist targets have killed large numbers of people.

A strike on an Islamic State (IS) group training camp in western Libya in February killed more than 40 people, a drone strike in Somalia against al-Shabab on March 5 killed 150 people and a drone strike in Yemen in February killed dozens.

The US came under heavy criticism for a drone strike several years ago against extremists in Yemen, which critics said actually hit a wedding party and killed women and children.

In October, an AC-130 gunship mistakenly hit a hospital in Afghanistan that was run by the charity Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF). MSF has demanded that the strike be investigated as a war crime. The Pentagon disciplined several officers and enlisted personnel for their part in the attack.

Obama said the US uses “vigorous criteria” to gather intelligence and it is “checked, double-checked, triple-checked before kinetic actions are taken”.

He said the US is targeting camps that are clearly “involved in and directing plots that could do the United States harm or are supporting ISIL activities or al-Qaida activities”.

Then, he said, “a strike will be taken”.

Police release seven suspects in KPC attack case for want of evidence
[DAWN] KARACHI: Police on Friday informed the administrative judge of the antiterrorism courts in Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
that they released seven suspects for want of evidence in a case pertaining to an attack on the Karachi Press Club (KPC).

The seven suspects -- Abdul Qadir, Muhammad Raza, Imran, Umair Khan, Zafar Iqbal, Irfan and Khawaja Raza -- said to be affiliated with the students’ wing of a religious party, were tossed in the clink
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
on March 28 for their alleged involvement in the case.

However,
some men learn by reading. A few learn by observation. The rest have to pee on the electric fence for themselves...
the investigation officer submitted a report under Section 497(2) of the criminal procedure code in court stating that no incriminating evidence was found against the suspects to connect them with the alleged offence during the investigation. He added that three media persons, who sustained injuries in the attack, did not identify the suspects.

The administrative judge directed the IO to submit an investigation report as required under Section 173 of the CrPC. According to the prosecution, the Anjuman Talba-e-Islam, the student wing of the Jamaat Ulema-e-Pakistain-Noorani, had staged a demonstration on March 27 in front of the KPC to mark the chehlum of Mumtaz Qadri, but the participants turned violent and set a vehicle of a news channel on fire, beat up journalists and attacked the KPC over what they described as a lack of media coverage of their protest.

Paperwork was started but nothing else was done under Sections 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object), 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees), 436 (mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to destroy house, etc), 511 (punishment for attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for life or a shorter term) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistain Penal Code read with Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997 at the Artillery Maidan police.

IDF thwarts smuggling activity off Gaza shores
[IsraelTimes] Military says it fired at Paleostinian fishing boat loaded with ‘suspicious cases’ which fishermen threw overboard before vessel sank

The Israeli military on Saturday responded to reports that the Navy fired on a Gazoo fishing boat off the shores of the Paleostinian enclave, saying the IDF prevented the smuggling of unknown materials from Egypt into Gazoo.

According to a report in the Israeli news site Walla, the IDF said it fired warnings shots after the boat, carrying "suspicious cases" according to the military, failed to heed orders to stop. The boat had ventured into a forbidden zone.

The military said Navy forces then fired at the boat, prompting two fishermen to dump the cases overboard and swim away.

According to earlier Paleostinian media reports, the Navy fire had caused the boat to sink.

The incident occurred off the coast of Rafah, a Paleostinian city near the Egyptian border.

Israel has maintained a naval blockade of the Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason,-ruled coastal strip since the terror group took over the territory from the Paleostinian Authority in 2007. It allows humanitarian aid into Gazoo through Israel’s Ashdod Port, a measure Israel says is necessary to prevent Hamas from acquiring weapons from overseas.

As part of the blockade, fishing boats and other seagoing vessels are limited to traveling close to the coast.

On Friday, the Paleostinian trade union for fishermen said that Israel was to extend the distance off the Gazoo Strip coast that some of the Paleostinian territory’s fishermen are allowed to operate starting Sunday.

Fishing boats working out of ports in the southern part of the Strip will be allowed up to nine nautical miles off the coast, the chairman of the Gazoo fishermen’s union, Nizar Ayyash, said.

He said that the previous six-mile limit would be retained in waters off the north of Gazoo which neighbor those of Israel.

COGAT, the Defense Ministry body responsible for implementing Israeli policies in the Paleostinian territories, said on its Facebook page that ahead of the fishing season, the navy "decided to expand fishing south of Wadi Gazoo from six to nine miles."

The wadi, or stream bed, reaches the Mediterranean just south of Gazoo City.

COGAT estimated the decision could add NIS 400,000 ($106,000; 93,000 euros) a year to the Gazook economy.

Around 4,000 fishermen work in Gazoo, more than half of whom live below the poverty line.

(IS) group in Syria, reports said.

Turkish artillery fired shells from howitzers positioned in its border region of Kilis against IS targets in settlements around the town of Azaz in northern Syria, the Dogan news agency said.

Front.

This was the the first time there had been reports of Turkey striking IS in Syria since early March.

The report said the artillery strikes were carried out following air raids in the same region by the U.S.-led coalition against IS.

Security in the Turkish border region -- which has on occasion been hit by deadly IS shelling from Syria -- has been stepped up as a result, it added.

From mid-February, Turkish artillery had also on successive days shelled targets of the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) inside Syria, with the military saying it was responding to incoming fire.

But Turkey has not shelled any positions held by Syrian Kurdish fighters inside Syria since the ceasefire was implemented from February 27.

ISIS troops driven from al-Kamaliya in Aleppo
[ARA News] ALEPPO – Syrian opposition fighters on Saturday were able to recapture several key areas from the radical group of Islamic State (ISIS) in Syria’s northern Aleppo province subsequent to fierce battles, military sources reported.

The battles coupled with airstrikes by the US-led coalition forces in the region.

Speaking to ARA News in Aleppo, rebel spokesman Saleh Zein confirmed that a number of Syrian opposition factions, including the Sultan Murad Squad, al-Mutasam Brigade and the Levant Corps, were able to expel ISIS extremists from the town of al-Kamaliya on Syria-Turkey border subsequent to fierce clashes.

“More than 15 ISIS militants were killed in Saturday’s confrontations,” Zein reported.

In the meantime, clashes continued between rebel fighters and ISIS militants in the vicinity of the Tel Shaeer town, coupled with rocket bombardment by the Levant Corps fighters on ISIS headquarters in the town.

“The operations caused heavy losses in ISIS manpower and equipment,” the spokesman told ARA News.

Also, the US-led coalition forces conducted several air raids on ISIS fighting positions and tactical units in the vicinity of the towns of Tal Shaeer, Soran and al-Ahmadiya in a bid to expel the radical group from the region at the borderline with Turkey.

Over the past few months, the ISIS hardline group has been receiving painful blows from the US-led coalition forces. ISIS started to launch arbitrary arrest campaigns against civilians in areas under its control, forcing hundreds of young men to join the fighting, in a bid to compensate the unprecedented shortage in its manpower, according to local sources.

Recently, the airstrikes led to a considerable decline in ISIS power along the Syrian-Turkish borderline.

Rooshun warbirds pound ISIS troops into a fine red mist in Deir ez-Zor
[ARA News] QAMISHLI – At least 40 militant fighters from the Islamic State (ISIS) were killed in Russian airstrikes that targeted the group’s headquarters in Syria’s eastern Deir ez-Zor province, local sources reported on Saturday.

Russian warplanes hit an ISIS security building and a jihadi training camp in the Hussainiya district west of Deir ez-Zor.

“The strikes caused the death of at least 42 members of the Islamic State,” spokesman of the ‘Deir ez-Zor Is Being Slaughtered Silently’ (DBSS) campaign told ARA News.

The casualties included 15 teenagers from the ISIS-led ‘Cubs of the Caliphate’ unit who were receiving training at the hands of ISIS commanders in the jihadi training camp in the Hussainiya district on Saturday, according to the informed source.

“Local as well as foreign members of ISIS were among those killed in the Russian strikes,” he said.

This comes amid continuous clashes between the Syrian army forces and ISIS militants in Deir ez-Zor suburbs.

Syrian rebels seize army positions in Latakia
Latakia is where the Russian air bases are located
[ARA News] LATAKIA – Syrian rebel groups were able to take control of military positions after clashes with the regime’s army forces in the coastal province of Latakia–heartland of the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, activists reported on Saturday.

The opposition factions operate in the Syrian coastal region, which include the Free Syrian Army (FSA) along with allied Islamist rebel groups, were able to destroy several vehicles belonging to the regime’s army.

Speaking to ARA News in Latakia, local media activist Ammar Ali said that the rebel group of the Northern Squad [al-Firqa ash-Shimaliya] along with other Islamist rebels announced a new battle against the Syrian army forces in Latakia.

The anti-Assad coastal alliance carried out an offensive on several military points in the mountainous areas of al-Akrad and Turkman.

The source pointed out that the rebels stepped up attacks on the regime’s headquarters with heavy weapons and Grad rockets in the vicinity of the town of Kinsabba in Mount al-Akrad.

Subsequent to fierce clashes with the regime’s army, opposition fighters were able to take control of the Rasha, al-Jinzali and al-Mazighli villages as well as the Hidada hill, the Hidada School, and the Malik village in the vicinity Kinsabba.

“Syrian rebels were able to kill a number of pro-Assad soldiers, including the colonel Louay Aslan along with his entire group in the hill of Rasha,” the source reported, pointing out that the rebels were able to destroy a tank, seizing four machine guns [14.5 caliber], a SUV with 23-caliber machine gun in addition to the destruction of a bulldozer.

The source added that opposition fighters launched an offensive on several locations in the vicinity of Kinsabba in a bid to retake them from the regime’s army after the latter seized them with the support of the Russian air raids.

“Our fighters have regained several strategic areas in the vicinity of Mount al-Akrad despite Russian heavy bombardment on our positions,” a rebel spokesman told ARA News, preferring anonymity.

On February 18, the Syrian army forces took over the Kinsabba area after fierce clashes with opposition fighters, during which the latter retreated from the region under Russian airstrikes.

Mass grave of victims of IS found in Syria's Palmyra
[YAHOO] Syrian troops have found a mass grave containing the bodies of 42 people executed by Islamic State

jihadists in Palmyra, as Washington warned the group's leader will eventually "taste justice".

IS has in recent months grabbed credit for deadly attacks in Brussels and Gay Paree, but has lost ground in Syria and Iraq.

Days after Syrian troops backed by Russian forces recaptured Palmyra and its ancient ruins, the army "uncovered a mass grave of officers, soldiers, members of the popular committees (pro-regime militia) and their relatives," a military source told AFP on Saturday.

Twenty-four of the victims were civilians, including three children, he said, asking not to be named.

"They were executed either by beheading or by shooting."

The bodies, which were found on Friday, have been transferred to a military hospital in the bustling provincial capital Homs and some have been identified.

Terror of Aleppo ...
, the Syrian army on Sunday recaptured Palmyra and its UNESCO World Heritage Site, which IS had overrun in May 2015.

During their nearly 10-month occupation of Palmyra, the jihadists executed at least 280 people, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britannia-based monitor which confirmed the discovery of the mass grave.

Soon after IS stormed Palmyra, it rubbed out 25 soldiers in the ancient Roman theatre.

It later released a video of the mass killing in which the executioners appeared to be children or teenagers.

Syria's five-year war has left at least 270,000 people dead. Few mass graves have been found, however.

Nearly a week on, few of Palmyra's up to 70,000 residents have returned.

"People fear reprisal by the regime, and also the mines planted all over the city by IS," Observatory director Rami Abdel Rahman told AFP.

"In addition, many houses were flattened by Russian air strikes before Palmyra was reclaimed," he added.
