Police Officer Killed, Security Official Injured in IED Explosion in Sinai
[AAWSAT] An Egyptian police captain from a special forces unit was killed by an improvised bomb planted on the side of the road on Friday, and a top security official was injured at Safa checkpoint, according to security sources.

This came during their distribution of Suhour meals on the Ring Road south of Arish in northern Sinai.

"The security forces encircled the area and combed it in search of the perpetrators," sources added.

In March 2016, ISIS grabbed credit of an armed attack on the "Safa checkpoint", killing at least 18 Egyptian security forces and injuring seven others.

Egypt's army and police have launched a major security operation in northern and central Sinai since February 9 to cleanse the region from gunnies and criminal elements. The operation is known as Operation Sinai 2018.

In November, President Abdul Fattah al-Sissi gave orders to the army and police to "use all force to root out terrorism."

North Sinai has become a terrorist hub since the ouster of former President Mohammed Morsi of the Moslem Brüderbund, which is considered a terrorist group by Egypt.

activist Haitham Mohammadin, who belongs to the Revolutionary Socialists movement, on suspicion of joining a terrorist organization, a security source said.

"He will then be referred to the Supreme State Security Prosecution for investigation and may be charged with joining a terrorist organization and inciting to overthrow the regime by publishing false news," the source added.

Mohammadin was arrested on the first day of the January 25, 2011 revolution as he was participating in one of its first demonstrations.

Arabia
Yemeni Army Seizes Iran-Made Mines, Devices on West Coast Fronts
[AAWSAT] Yemen’s National Army forces announced seizing a large and wide-ranging collection of sophisticated mines and weapons ready for use, as well as all Iranian-made wireless communication devices on the country’s western coastline.

Artillery was seized on a number of key fronts abandoned by Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
Lions of Islam who were planning to use the weapons against the Yemeni people, the statement said.

Army intelligence operations also uncovered cash hideouts that murderous Moslems used to conceal cash in the Sa'ada governorate.

Military experts say that locating high-level Houthi hideouts serves a blow to Houthi militias, especially at a time they are experiencing decline on all fronts and a lack of military supplies.

The national army was able to seize Iranian-made weapons on various fronts, especially in west coast pockets, Yemeni Army Spokesman Brigadier Abdo Abdullah Majali told Asharq al-Awsat in a phone conversation.

Majali said that banknotes found in Saada are related to looting carried out by Houthi militias that robbed Yemen’s Central Bank and other banking institutions. He added that Lions of Islam moved towards hiding the cash away from Sana'a so that it is easier to control the acquired funds.

Majali also revealed that army forces mapped mines and uncovered attack blueprints targeting areas liberated by anti-coup forces.

"The army benefited greatly from maps in finding mines," he added.

Majali explained that blueprints found aided in the rapid combing of different directorates.

National Army units gaining access to important military information has helped in recent days to progress quickly and at a large scale.

Finding the wireless device also aided the National Army in decoding, intercepting and wiretapping many calls exchanged between Houthi militia leaders.

On the battlefield, the army front man confirmed that there has been significant progress in the governorate of Saada.

7 die in attack on Church in Grozny
GROZNY, May 19. /TASS/. The situation in the Chechen capital Grozny remains relatively calm after a deadly attack on the city’s only Orthodox church on Saturday, Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov wrote in his Telegram channel.

"Once again, I state that the overall situation in Grozny was not affected. The situation in the city is peaceful, all offices, organizations, shops are open, public transport operates according to schedule, all streets are open for traffic," he wrote.

On Saturday afternoon, a group of four people attempted to break into the Archangel Michael’s Church in Grozny, located on a busy street in the heart of the Chechen capital. It is a popular tourist site surrounded by shopping malls and cafes. A service was under way in the church at the moment of the assault.

The attackers, who carried smoothbore guns, knives, axes and plastic bottles with inflammable liquid on them, were unable to get inside the building. However, as a result of the attack, two police officers and one civilian were killed, two more officers were wounded. Four attackers were killed.

"A police officer, who was on duty in the church, was the first to be killed. However, as a result of his courageous actions, [law-enforcers] were immediately alerted about the attack," Kadyrov said. "A rapid response group arrived to the scene almost instantly and killed those bandits. There were four of them."

The Russian president’s envoy to the North Caucasus Federal District, Oleg Belaventsev, said the situation in Grozny is under control.

"The situation in Grozny is under control of the Chechen and federal authorities," he said. "We will continue our fight against terrorism at home and far away.".
Iran PressTV adds:
Head of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov, who reportedly lead the operation, said all four of the gunnies were "eliminated".

It is thought they entered the church searching for hostages.Russia's Investigative Committee will examine the incident.

The pro Russian news website, Russkaya Vesna said that ISIS was behind the attack:
The terrorist group IGIL * claimed responsibility for the attack on militants on the church in Grozny, reports Reuters referring to the statement of the group.

On the eve of the four militants penetrated the church of the Archangel Michael in the center of Grozny to capture parishioners. Victims of the attack were two policemen guarding the church, and one parishioner . Two more law enforcers were injured.

The bandits were eliminated during the special operation. Their identities are fixed. As the head of the republic Ramzan Kadyrov said, two of the attackers lived in the village of Geldagan near Grozny, the ringleader of the group was "a native of one of the neighboring regions." According to him, "there is operational information that the militants received the order from one of the Western countries."

Earlier, the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill noted the heroism of the policemen who took part in the liquidation of terrorists, expressed condolences to the relatives of the victims and the victims, and also urged all Orthodox residents of the republic to preserve peace and tranquility.

According to the primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, the "cynical foray" of the militants was aimed at shaking "a valuable interreligious peace and harmony in the region, sow enmity and fear among its inhabitants."

Kibbutz wheat field along Gaza border set ablaze from apparent flaming kite
[IsraelTimes] Kibbutz Mefalsim residents say this is fifth time farmland has been targeted in recent months; firefighters working to extinguish flames

A fire broke out in a wheat field outside of Kibbutz Mefalsim along the Gazoo border Saturday due to what appeared to have been another incendiary kite flown from the Paleostinian coastal enclave.

Firefighters were on site to extinguish the blaze adjacent to the border with Gazoo. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.

Locals said this was the fifth time that the wheat field had been set ablaze by kites over the past two months.

In recent weeks, Gazooks have been flying kites into Israel outfitted with Molotov cocktails and containers of burning fuel, setting fire to large swaths of fields.

The tactic was introduced as part of the weekly "March of Return" demonstrations at the border fence, which began on March 30 and came to a head on Monday when the US moved its embassy to Jerusalem and at least 60 Paleostinians were killed in festivities, a majority of them Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", members, the terror group has acknowledged.

The violent demonstrations were meant to end on May 15, but Hamas leaders have said they want them to continue.

Three Palestinians die from Israeli gunfire wounds sustained during Gaza rally
[PRESSTV] Three Paleostinians who were critically maimed by Israeli army gunfire nearly a week ago during an anti-occupation protest along the border between the besieged Gazoo Strip and occupied territories have gave up the ghost.

The Gazoo Ministry of Health announced in a statement that 58-year-old Moein al-Saai, a resident of al-Shati refugee camp in the northern Gazoo Strip, sustained grave gunshot wounds east of Gazoo City last Monday.

The statement added that Mohammed Mazen al-Ayyan, 20, died in al-Quds Hospital on Saturday morning after doctors and medical staff could not save his life. He had been shot and maimed east of al-Bureij refugee camp in the central Gazoo Strip.

The third Paleostinian identified as Ahmad Abu Samareh, 21, died on Saturday from the wounds he sustained in the Monday festivities.

At least 64 Paleostinians were killed and more than 2,700 others maimed near the Gazoo fence on the eve of the 70th anniversary of Nakba Day (Day of Catastrophe), which coincided this year with the relocation of the US embassy from Tel Aviv to the occupied city of Jerusalem al-Quds.

ISIS Lions of Islam from the nearby Badiya region managed to sneak towards the road leading to the T-3 Pumping Station in eastern Homs on Saturday; they would then plant IEDs along this government supply line.

The Islamic State Lions of Islam would then detonate their IEDs once a Syrian military convoy was seen traveling along this road to the T-3 Pumping Station.

As a result of this attack, at least five soldiers were killed and another 11 were badly maimed.

The ISIS Lions of Islam managed to reach their front-lines after the attack, evading potential capture by the Syrian military.

ISIS asks for terms in southern Damascus
[ALMASDARNEWS] The violent battle for southern Damascus has been put on hold after the so-called Islamic State

(ISIS) asked for terms from the Syrian government.

According to a military report from southern Damascus, no festivities have been reported in either Yarmouk Camp or Hajar al-Aswad since noon on Saturday.

While the Syrian Ministry of Defense denied any agreement has been made with the Islamic State, a source in Damascus told al-Masdar this evening that the terrorist group is offering to surrender their positions to the government in exchange for transportation to the Badiya region.

The Syrian military previously offered to transport the Islamic State to this area; however, the latter would later ruthlessly execute a number of Syrian soldiers in Hajar al-Aswad, prompting the government forces to launch an all-out attack against the terrorist group.

ISIS controls most of the Yarmouk Camp and al-Tadamon, but they are on the verge of losing Hajar al-Aswad, which only spells bad news for the terrorists.

ISIS terrorists to begin leaving southern Damascus
[ALMASDARNEWS] An agreement was put in place in southern Damascus, tonight, after the so-called Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) agreed to surrender their last positions in the Yarmouk Camp and Hajar al-Aswad.

According to a military source in Damascus, dozens of buses started entering the Yarmouk Camp and Hajar al-Aswad to transport the Islamic State faceless myrmidons to the Badiya region in eastern Syria.

ISIS was forced to surrender these districts in southern Damascus after losing a large chunk of their territory to the Syrian Army this month.

With the Islamic State’s future departure, the city of Damascus will be free of any holy warrior groups for the first time in seven years.
