Taliban Big Turban, 5 others die in Nangarhar
A Taliban commander and his militants were mysteriously killed in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan, the local officials said Monday.

The incident took place late on Sunday night in the vicinity of Khogyani district of Nangarhar.

The provincial government says the militants and his commander were killed by unknown gunmen late on Sunday night in Kagi Haderi area of the district.

The Taliban leader killed in the attack has been identified as Fazal Ahmad who was killed with his five fighters, the provincial government.

In the meantime, the district administrative government said Fazal was involved in several destructive activities in this district and their dead bodies are still lying in the area.

The Taliban insurgents group has not commented regarding the report so far.

But reports indicate that the Taliban commander and his militants were killed during an infighting on Sunday night and a total of two Taliban commanders were killed in the infighting.

This is not the first time reports emerge regarding the infighting among the Taliban insurgents but numerous incidents have taken place in the past.

The majority of infighting among the Taliban insurgents take place due to the differences available among the Taliban ranks regarding the appointment of the Taliban group leader.

IS claims attack on Iraq embassy in Kabul
[DAWN] A jacket wallah went kaboom! outside the Iraqi embassy in Kabul on Monday and snuffies breached the compound in a complex hours-long attack claimed by the bully boy Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(IS) group, said Afghan officials.

All the attackers had been killed and the compound secured roughly four hours after the assault began, Afghanistan's interior ministry said, adding that all embassy staffers were safe and only one policeman maimed "slightly".

Earlier, black smoke billowed into the air above the neighbourhood in northwestern Kabul as the sound of gunfire, blasts and ambulance sirens could be heard. Panicked residents, including women and kiddies, could be seen fleeing the area.

The ministry said at least four snuffies had attacked the embassy, beginning with a suicide bomber who detonated his vest at the compound entrance.

Key al-Shabaab commander killed
[AA.TR] A key al-Shabaab
... the personification of Somali state failure...
leader was killed in an operation in Somalia’s Lower Shabelle region on Saturday, Somalia’s information minister said in a statement on Monday.

Government troops with international partners killed Ali Mohammed Hussein (Ali Jabal), commander of the Banadir region -- including the capital Mogadishu -- in a security operation.

"Ali Jabal was part of an al-Shabaab network responsible for planning and executing several bombings and liquidations that resulted in the deplorable death of numerous innocent civilians in Mogadishu," a statement from Somalia’s information minister said.

"The successful operation signals the Federal Government’s continued commitment to protect Somali citizens and reduce al-Shabaab's ability to conduct senseless acts of violence against the people of Somalia, its East African neighbors, and the international community," he added.

A statement from the U.S. Africa Command said Monday it carried out a dronezap near Tortoroow in southern Somalia that killed an al-Shabaab member, but gave no further details.

Uganda Says 12 Killed in Somalia Shabaab Attack
[An Nahar] Uganda's military said on Monday it had lost 12 soldiers in an attack claimed by Shabaab Lions of Islam in southern Somalia.

The al-Qaeda linked murderous Moslems ambushed Ugandan troops that are part of an African Union

"From the battlefield, it is now confirmed that UPDF lost 12 gallant soldiers with seven sustaining injuries," the statement from the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces said.

Witnesses told AFP the attack occurred in the village of Golweyn, some 120 kilometres (74 miles) from the capital Mogadishu.

The AU mission AMISOM said an improvised bomb (IED) was used in an ambush of a convoy composed of its troops and Somali forces.

"A lot of damage was inflicted on the enemy while our troops took fatalities whose number is yet to be ascertained," the mission said on Twitter.

A Shabaab front man on Sunday told a radio station linked to the group that the murderous Moslems had killed 39 soldiers, a claim that could not be independently verified.

5 LNA soldiers die in clash in Derna
BENGHAZI, Libya: Rebels on Sunday killed five members of a force led by military strongman Khalifa Haftar in the country’s east, sources said.

“Terrorist groups attacked at dawn Sunday three sites under the control” of Haftar’s forces south of the eastern city of Derna, they said.

Four of Haftar’s forces were also wounded, it added.

Derna was known for being a bastion for rebels even before the 2011 uprising that toppled and killed former ruler Muammar Qaddafi.

Haftar’s forces are waging a campaign against rebel and terrorist groups, including efforts to capture the eastern city from the “Revolutionary Shoura Council of Derna,” a coalition of militias close to Al-Qaeda.

On Saturday, a pro-Haftar fighter died as he took part in a mission to try and rescue a pilot whose plane had crashed in the same area.

The pilot who died in the crash, had been carrying out a raid against rebel positions when his fighter jet was hit by a missile, the news agency said.

Haftar’s forces have lost several aircraft in recent months.

The strongman supports an administration based in the country’s east that has refused to recognize the UN-backed Government of National Accord based in Tripoli.

Top committee votes in favor of constitutional draft

A committee tasked with writing a constitution for Libya voted on Saturday in favor of a draft, paving the way for Parliament to approve a referendum and causing uproar among opponents.

Critics, including secessionists and people in favor of the country’s 1951 constitution, called for a redo of Saturday’s vote.

Protesters broke into the committee’s building in the eastern town of Bayda, according to two committee members, who said they called on the committee to reconvene Sunday. It was not immediately clear whether the committee met again.

Committee members opposing the decision issued a signed statement saying that voters failed to consider amendments proposed by opponents to articles in the draft.

Amraja Noah, a committee member from the eastern city of Tobruk, said protesters stormed the building to stop the session, forcing the members to rush the vote.

He said 44 members attended the session and 42 voted in favor of passing the draft.

Algerian Army Kills Six Armed Islamists
[An Nahar] The Algerian army on Monday killed six armed Islamists during an ongoing security operation west of Algiers, the defense ministry said.

Weapons and ammunition were also recovered, it said.

The six suspects were killed in the Safsafa area near Tipaza, 70 kilometers (44 miles) west of Algiers, according to the ministry.

Algerians had hoped that a 2005 peace and reconciliation charter would turn the page on a 1991-2002 civil war that cost 200,000 lives.

But Islamist groups remain active in some areas, largely targeting security forces.

At least 71 armed Islamists have been killed by Algerian security forces this year, according to an AFP tally of official figures.

Austria sentences Hamas man to life for terror plot in Israel
[IsraelTimes] Paleostinian released in 2011 Shalit deal sought to enlist West Bank residents to carry out grenade attacks in Jerusalem

Austria sentenced a Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", operative to life in prison for enlisting Paleostinians in the West Bank to carry out terror attacks against Israeli targets.

The Paleostinian man, whose name is being held under gag order in Austria, was sentenced last week, Israel’s Justice Ministry said in a statement.

The Hamas operative was previously serving a life sentence in Israel, but was released to the Gazoo Strip in the 2011 prisoner exchange deal for IDF soldier Gilad Shalit. He later relocated to Austria.

In 2016, the Paleostinian man contacted two residents of the West Bank over the internet and enlisted them to carry out grenade attacks in Jerusalem and to assemble additional cell members.

The planned attacks were never carried out.

After learning of the Hamas member’s intentions, the Shin Bet security agency was able to track him to Austria. The agency also incarcerated

Israel also transferred intelligence on the Hamas operative to Austrian authorities, leading to his arrest in Austria.

At Austria’s request, Israel also provided legal assistance in the case, including by allowing the Austrian judge to question the four West Bank residents suspected of involvement in the planned attacks by video conference.

ISIS Top Kop dies in airstrike in Kirkuk
Hawija (IraqiNews.com) Islamic State’s police chief was killed, while five others were injured in an airstrike, southwest of Kirkuk, a local source from the province was quoted saying.

“IS leader in charge of the so-called Islamic police in Hawija, southwest of Kirkuk, was killed along with one of his companions, while five others were wounded as an airstrike targeted a group’s rest house at the outskirts of the town,” the source told AlSumaria News on Monday.

The source, who preferred anonymity, added that the killed member was from the group’s second-line leaders in Kirkuk.

On Sunday, nine IS militants were killed as U.S.-led coalition jets targeted IS locations in al-Rashad, al-Riyadh and Hawija, southwestern Kirkuk.

Hawija, located west of Kirkuk, have been held by IS since mid-2014, when the group emerged to proclaim an Islamic “caliphate” in Iraq and Syria. The group executed dozens of civilians and security members there, forcing thousands to flee homes.

Security officials say tens of IS families in the group’s so-called Diyala State headed to Hawija after losing the cities they controlled after June 2014.

There has been pressure on Iraqi government to hasten with invading Hawija, given the humanitarian crisis people were experiencing under the group’s rule. Further offensives are expected to be launched across Iraq.

More Mosul Moslem Mayhem

20 ISIS Bad Guys turn into a Red Mist near Syrian border

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi warplanes killed 20 Islamic State members near the borders with Syria, military media reported Monday, denying reports that the strikes targeted locations inside Syria.

The Defense Ministry’s War Media Cell said an airstrike was carried out at Tal Sufouq, a region at Nineveh’s borders with Syria, based on intelligence provided by the Popular Mobilization Forces.

The strike killed 20 militants and destroyed six vehicles, the statement said, denying reports that the strikes targeted locations inside Syria.

On Sunday, semi-official al-Sabah newspaper said Iraqi warplanes pounded IS locations in the Syrian city of Mayadin, Deiz Ezzour, before the group proceeded with plans to target holy Shia sites in the Iraqi cities of Najaf and Karbala, as well as the residence of the country’s top Shia cleric, Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani.

Iraqi forces regained control over the city of Mosul earlier this month, ending more than eight months of battles against the militants at their former capital. Coinciding with the campaign in Mosul, paramilitary troops, backed by warplanes, managed to take full control over the borderline with Syria and Jordan.

Islamic State now holds a few towns in Nineveh near the Syrian borders, most notably Tal Afar, which is widely reported to be the next target for military operations.

12 ISIS Bad Guys die in drone strike near Tal Afar

Tal Afar (IraqiNews.com) A drone guided by the U.S.-led coalition killed 12 Islamic State militants near the group’s last stronghold west of Nineveh, an air force officer said in a statement.

Maj. Abbas al-Khozami said in a press state, ent that the drone fired two rockets at an Islamic State residence in Alawliya, east of Tal Afar, the town held by militants since 2014.

Among those killed was Islamic State’s commando chief, Abdul-Aziz Abdul-Qader al-Jeheishi, Khozami said.

He said the air force continues to fly drones above the town to collect intelligence about the group’s locations and movements, noting that more air raids will be carried out in the area over the few next days.

The Iraqi government has recently set Tal Afar as the next target of oeprations against the Islamic State. So far, the town has been isolated from the Syrian borders and from Mosul by the pro-government Popular Mobilization.

Earlier on Monday, the media service of the Popular Mobilization said troops, backed by the Iraqi jets repelled an IS attack at the region between the borders and al-Hamdaniyah district, northeast of Nineveh province.

Ten militants were killed, while six vehicles of the group were burnt, the statement added.

Another statement by the Defense Ministry’s War Media Cell said an airstrike was carried out at Tal Sufouq, a region at Nineveh’s borders with Syria, killed 20 militants.

"They are tasked with securing Iraq’s border with Syria," he told Anadolu Agency.

Police arrest 33 suspected of instigating Temple Mount riots
[IsraelTimes] Overnight raids in East Jerusalem neighborhoods round up key figures who police say fueled violent protests

Police jugged
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!
in raids overnight Sunday 33 men suspected of playing key roles in recent violent demonstrations against Israeli security measures at the Temple Mount in Jerusalem’s Old City.

Officers and border guards, equipped with arrest warrants, raided homes in East Jerusalem and detained the suspects for questioning, police said in a statement.

Seven were minors aged between 13 and 17, police said.

Raids took place in A Tur, the Shuafat refugee camp, Beit Hanina, Wadi Joz, Ras Al Amud, Issawiya, and the Old City.

The detainees are suspected of taking part in riots and endangering lives, the statement said.

Following questioning they will be brought before a court to have their detention extended.

Police said that by using a combination of groundwork, intelligence-gathering, documentation, and "sophisticated use of technologies" they were able to identify major instigators of violent rioting.

During the rioting dozens of suspects gathered in a number of locations and threw stones, glass bottles and Molotov cocktails, set dumpsters alight, blocked roads, and launched firecrackers at security forces.

A number of officers were maimed during the rioting, police said.

"The Israel police takes a serious view of efforts to riot with the aim of shaping reality and to influence decision making, and will not allow it," the statement said.

The military said it has killed 491 forces of Evil in heavy fighting that saw the government order Arclight airstrikes on Marawi and impose martial law across Mindanao.

"I think they are down to only 30 to 40 fighters but don’t discount them as these are good fighters and we are still taking casualties," Lorenzana said, according to the state-run Philippine News Agency.

"In fact, we had one killed and nine maimed some three days ago and yesterday."

The military is looking into claims that Abdullah Maute, one of the brothers leading the Maute group, was killed over the weekend, front man Brig. Gen. Restituto Padilla said.

The group of senior Abu Sayyaf leader Furuji Indama kidnapped and killed the loggers apparently over a local business row rather than for its typical ransom activities, Cundo said.

"This was an act of Dire Revenge by Indama who may have blamed the destruction of his rubber plantation on these loggers. The kidnappers did not demand ransom but immediately beheaded the loggers," Cundo said.
