Leb Army Destroys Vehicle Transporting Jihadists on Arsal Outskirts
[AnNahar] The Lebanese army destroyed on Saturday a vehicle transporting gunnies on the outskirts of the northeastern border town of Arsal, the state-run National News Agency reported.

NNA said in the army's operation took place in Khirbet Daoud.

The threat of jihadists, deployed on the porous Lebanese-Syrian border, rose a year ago when al-Nusra

group fighters overran Arsal and engaged in heavy battles with the army.

The gunnies took with them hostages from the military and police and later executed four of them.

Since then, the jihadists are carrying out several infiltration attempts but troops, which are heavily deployed in the area, are confronting them.

"According to statistics from Mosul, 784 Daesh [ISIS] turbans have been killed by the Peshmerga Arclight airstrikes and internal tensions and conflict among the organization since the beginning of July in the Nineveh [Mosul] province," said Saeed Mamuzini, media officer of the Kurdistan Democratic Party in Mosul.

"Among the killed holy warriors, eight were from Germany, three from La Belle France and 12 had the rank of emir [leader] and two mass graves were uncovered, containing many foreign turbans of the Islamic State

Baghdad: oil town Baiji in 'almost fully' under control
[Rudaw] Iraqi Defense Minister Khaled Ubaidi said Friday the hotly contested oil city of Baiji was "almost fully" controlled by government troops after months of fierce festivities between security forces and gunnies of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
, or ISIS, who captured large parts of the town earlier in May.

"Iraqi forces have been able to push gunnies back and control all the districts in Baiji except for Muhandeseen neighborhood east of the township," Ubaidi said during an interview with Russia Today, adding that over 1,000 ISIS gunnies have been killed in the festivities.

On Thursday, Beiji's mayor, Muhammad Mahmoud, told Rudaw the street fighting continued unabated in the township with sporadic sniper attacks on government forces.

Three boom-mobiles hit a group of government forces in central parts of Baiji on Tuesday killing at least 11 people and wounding another 21, the defense ministry said.

Baiji, some 70 kilometers southwest of Kirkuk city, has the largest oil-producing refinery in Iraq and a large power plant. The refinery has been shut down since ISIS launched its Iraqi offensive more than a year ago.

Government troops supported by the Shiite militia movement known as the Hashd al-Shaabi have been locked in a year-long bloody war in the city trying to drive the gunnies away from the strategic refinery.

Ubaidi who is in Moscow for talks on military aid for Iraqi forces said Russia was committed to an earlier agreement to help Baghdad in the fight.

Earlier in May, Moscow offered visiting Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi military assistance against the ISIS who have made progress in central Iraq during the summer.

Clashes in West Bank following death of Palestinian baby, teen
[Ynet] Dozens of settlers from the Esh Kodesh attack Paleostinian farmers, trying to stop them from working their land; Paleostinians clash with security forces at funeral of 17-year-old killed by IDF fire after throwing a Molotov cocktail at troops.

Clashes continued into the late afternoon hours on Saturday across the West Bank and in Jerusalem, as masked Paleostinians used burning tires to block the main road outside Duma, where unknown Jewish perpetrators set fire to the Dawabsheh family home, killing 22-month-old Ali Dawabsheh and seriously wounding his parents and brother.
The so-called "Price Tag" attacks have gotten worse. This time they set a Palestinian house afire, and a baby died. This one won't be treated leniantly by the Israeli authorities.
Some 200 men and women blocked Highway 65 near Ayn al-Sahla in Wadi Ara in protest of the murder of Ali Dawabsheh from the village Duma. They pelted an Israeli police vehicle that arrived at the scene with stones, waved Paleostinian flags and called to bring the murderers to justice.

The protesters were joined by Joint Arab List MKs Jamal Zahalka and Yusef Jabareen, who were not part of the road-blocking.

Paleostinian youths clashed with security forces in the Jalazun refugee camp on Saturday afternoon following the funeral of Leith Khalidi, 17, who was killed by IDF fire on Friday night after throwing a Molotov cocktail at troops near Birzeit north of Ramallah.

On Saturday morning, Jewish settlers attacked Paleostinian farmers from the village Qusra, who were preparing the land for planting some 100 meters from the security fence of the settlement Esh Kodesh.

The Paleostinian farmers, who were using a mechanical bagger, halted their work when settlers from Esh Kodesh, who had called the IDF, arrived at the scene. There was an exchange of words between the Paleostinians and the settlers, which devolved into rock throwing.

The incident was over rather quickly after the IDF separated the parties.

The dispute surrounds the question of land ownership, and officers from the military coordination office were on the scene to examine whether the work was being conducted in area B or C.

These festivities are a regular occurrence in the agricultural plots surrounding Qusra. The settlers claim that the land belongs to the State of Israel, and that a Jewish-owned vineyard nearby was set ablaze by the Paleostinians.

According to the settlers, the work was a provocation orchestrated by the organization "Rabbis for Human Rights" (a pro-Paleostinian human rights
One man's rights are another man's existential threat.
organization), and other European left-wing activists who arrived with locals from the nearby villages in order to build infrastructure on disputed land.

Overnight violence
Additional festivities and protests erupted in the West Bank Friday, giving rise to intense fears of further escalation.

Riots first began in Jerusalem where Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, had already declared a "Day of Rage" following festivities at the Temple Mount. The Paleostinian organization based in Gazoo then called on West Bank residents to demonstrate in response to the Duma Jewish terrorist attack.

One police officer was lightly maimed by broken glass from a bottle thrown at security forces in the Old City of Jerusalem alongside rocks and other objects. One Paleostinian was jugged
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
Several young Paleostinians threw rocks at the entrance to Qalandiya, just north of Jerusalem. Border Police responded with tear gas, dispersing the crowd.

In Isawiya in East Jerusalem, Border Police clashed with dozens of Paleostinians who threw fire bombs and stones at security forces. The rioters were met with riot-control measures and pushed back toward the center of the neighborhood

Æthiopian attack helicopters strike Shaboobs
BAIDOA, Somalia -- Æthiopian jets have started pummeling Al Shabaab positions in Bay region of southern Somalia according to residents and military sources, Garowe Online reports. Ethiopian-AMISOM forces for the first time flew attack helicopters to dislodge Al Shabaab militants from strategic towns in southwestern Somalia.

On Friday, residents in Bay regional district of Burhakaba reported that strike aircraft flying at low altitude launched strikes on fighting vehicles carrying Al Shabaab militants and dense forests. Casualties couldn’t be known due to the tight secrecy of beleaguered Al Shabaab group.

Kenyan warplanes previously used aerial bombardment in revenge for cross-border terror attacks.

Ethiopian forces along with Somali government troops liberated key towns in central and southern Somalia.

Cameroon deports 2,000 Nigerians in fight against Boko Haram
[NEWS.YAHOO] Cameroon
...a long, narrow country that fills the space between Nigeria and Chad on the northeast, CAR to the southeast. Prior to incursions by Boko Haram nothing ever happened there...
has deported more than 2,000 Nigerians who were living in the country illegally as part of new security measures intended to prevent suicide kabooms by Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
jihadists, sources said Friday.

Regional newspaper L'Oeil du Sahel reported that about 2,500 Nigerians had been "rounded up" in Kousseri, in the far north of Cameroon, and sent back to their country on Thursday.

The weekly posted a photo on its Facebook page showing several departing trucks crammed with hundreds of passengers.

A source close to regional authorities confirmed that "more than 2,000 'irregular' Nigerians have been expelled from Kousseri".

Mey Aly, an official from a local NGO, said that most of the Nigerians "had fled the atrocities of Boko Haram" to take refuge in Cameroon.

Thursday's deportations came just a day after Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari visited Cameroon for talks on how to combat the escalating regional threat from Boko Haram.

Buhari and Cameroonian counterpart Paul Biya pledged to strengthen cooperation between their two countries in the fight against the krazed killers.

Between July 12 and July 25, Cameroon's far north, on the border with Boko Haram's Nigerian strongholds, suffered three suicide attacks -- two in the regional capital, Maroua -- leaving at least 44 people dead.

The Cameroonian border post at Kousseri -- which has been hit by two suicide attacks since June -- occupies a strategic position, with just a bridge separating it from Chad's capital N'Djamena.

Suspected Philippines Communist leader captured
[AA.TR] A woman suspected of being one of the Philippines communist party's top leaders was tossed in the slammer
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
in a joint police and military security force Saturday after a ten year hunt.

Maria Concepcion "Concha" Araneta-Bocala had a P7.8 million ($171,000) bounty on her head and was wanted on murder and rebellion charges.

The 64-year-old was captured in Calumpang Molo, Iloilo City in Western Visayas and brought to the criminal investigation and detection group where she is being questioned, the Inquirer reported Saturday.

Bocala is said to be the party's secretary general for Panay Island in the central Philippines.

The report stated that she was arrested with two helpers, and authorities had also seized a fragmentation grenade, .45-caliber and .22-caliber pistols, ammunition, cell phones, a laptop, and an external hard drive.

Citing a statement from senior investigator Supt. Peter Naboye, the Inquirer reported that the arrest occurred after a year-long surveillance operation.

"Joint police and military operatives from CIDG (criminal investigation and detection group) and armed forces of the Philippines cornered her in a house at Juntado Subdivision, in Barangay Calumpang, Molo District, early Saturday morning.

"The arrest was done on the strength of an arrest warrant issued to Araneta-Bocala for a crime of murder issued by a court in Antique. She also faced a separate arrest warrant for rebellion issued by a court in Antique," the Inquirer report said.

In a presser, police regional director Chief. Supt. Bernardo Diaz said Bocala has been the subject of a decade-long manhunt.

He said that her nephew, Joseph Cariaga, and helper, Anniely Soldevilla, were also taken into custody for further investigation.

Bocala's lawyer, Janne Baterna, later claimed that her client is a holder of the Joint Agreement on Safety and Immunity Guarantees, which should render her safe from arrest or prosecution.

Military Operation Launched in Nangarhar to Clear Insurgents: Officials
[Tolo News] A large-scale military operation was launched in three districts of eastern Nangarhar
The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..
province early Saturday, local officials said.

The operation was launched in Hesarak, Sherzad and Khoghyani districts of the province which border with Pakistain. The operation was launched to clear Lions of Islam and will continue for a month, a front man for the Delab 201 Military Corps in eastern Afghanistan, Noman Atifi said.

"The operation is for a month and was launched under the name of "Musalas-e-Ahaneen" to clear the krazed killers," Atifi said.

"The commandos and special police forces have also arrived in the province to support the military forces in the clearing operation."

Mohammad Zaman Waziri, the head of the Delab 201 Military Corps is leading the operation and the air force will also support the ground forces in the operations, he said.

The operation launched in order to clear the Lions of Islam for the good governance in the province, he added.

Sherzad and Hesarak are the most insecure districts in which the Taliban Lions of Islam have activities and often target local security forces and threaten babus government employees, said officials.

Foreign Taliban Fighting in Badakhshan's Warduj: Officials
[Tolo News] Hundreds of foreign Taliban faceless myrmidons are present in the Warduj district of north-eastern Badakhshan province and are fighting security forces, officials said on Saturday.

Tamim Hamid, TOLOnews news hound, who visited the area this week, said that hundreds of hard boys, including their foreign counterparts, attacked Teergeran military base in Warduj over the past four days and have tried to take control of the strategic outpost.

However,
it was a brave man who first ate an oyster...
Afghan National Army troops, with heavy artillery, were sent in as reinforcements to help local security forces. In addition to assisting in Warduj, troops also launched a military operation against faceless myrmidons in Chakeran village which is believed to be a safe haven for the Taliban hard boys.

According to a former hard boy in the district -- 16-year-old Abdul Manan -- foreign faceless myrmidons fight alongside local Taliban hard boys. He said: "The Taliban is very well equipped and they have any kind of weapons and any kind of fighter, locals, foreigners, young and old."

Manan said he bravely ran away from home and joined the hard boy group only to eventually leave to return home.

Local officials meanwhile said that the Taliban launched their local offensive from Akhsher village in Badakhshan. Initially they had only seven members but that has grown to over 250 local faceless myrmidons -- including 10 former coppers, said officials. This figure excludes the imported muscle.

Officials said the faceless myrmidons have also stolen security force vehicles following attacks on checkpoints and that some vehicles were handed over to them by former local police commanders.

Habibullah Sharifi, a 37-year-old local police commander said that foreign Taliban members fight alongside Afghan Taliban. "Warduj is very important for the Taliban. They well know that if they take control of Warduj they will easily take control of other districts," he said.

A number of analysts believe that the strategic Silk Road, which links Afghanistan to China, is one of the main reasons why faceless myrmidons are trying to take control of the district.

"This is a historical way which is a link to East Asia and to South Asia and a link from Asia to Europe," said one analyst, Hazrakhsh Hafizi said.

Today Afghanistan has close relations with China and it seems that a number of regional countries which are involved in regional events are not happy about this, he said.

Meanwhile,
...back at the the conspirators' cleverly concealed hideout the long-awaited message arrived. They quickly got to work with their decoder rings...
acting governor of Badakhshan, Shah Waliullah Adib said: "Right now, hundreds of foreigners and their families have been placed in Khostak area of the district [Warduj] and they are organizing attacks and the local Taliban does not have any authority. This group is also trying to pave the way for hard boy networks such Jundullah, Ansarullah and Turkmenistan, to enter the country," said Adib.

Pakistan Military Fires Off Another Volley of Rockets in Nangarhar
[Tolo News] Local officials from eastern Nangarhar
The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..
province on Saturday said that the Pak military has repeatedly fired missiles into the province over the past three days.

Zabihullah Zemarai, a member of the Provincial Council of Nangarhar, told TOLOnews that "until yesterday [Friday] about 13 rockets were fired into Nazyan district of the province," he said.
A number of homes were destroyed in the attack but no casualties were reported, said officials.

"In the past three days rockets have been fired into Afghanistan and civilian property has been damaged from the attacks," Nasir Kamawal, deputy head of provincial council of Nangarhar said.
"We want the government to take the matter seriously," Kamawal said.

Officials from the Provincial Council and residents of Nangarhar have warned Pak forces that "if they not stop their attacks, they will face the same response."

A tribal elder, Aminullah Amarkhel said that "about 13 homes have been destroyed and the people are moving to other parts of Nazyan province."

This comes after officials from the Ministry of Defense said recently that a delegation had visited Pak officials and discussed the matter.
However,
a person who gets all wrapped up in himself makes a mighty small package...
the officials did not provide details about the meeting.

Pakistain first launched cross-border attacks on Afghan soil -- in the eastern provinces - in 2010. Pak officials have however long denied the attacks, or claimed they were in response to attacks by forces of Evil originating in Afghanistan.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Zionist Entity Readies Iron Dome on Lebanon Border
[ALMANAR.LB] The Zionist entity has deployed Iron Dome defense system to the north, FoxNews quoted an Israeli commander a s saying.

Col. Yoni Saada Marom, commander of Israel's Active Defense Air Wing, said that the military drills were not a direct reaction to recent events, but made clear that Hezbollah and other resistance organizations close to Israel's borders presented a potentially heightened threat.

"We saw that during Operation Protective Edge [2014 Gazoo War] the Iron Dome faced one kind of challenge in the south," he said.

"Now, we are dealing with the challenges and scenarios that we think the enemies from the north will bring. One of the scenarios could be that, like Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason,, they will try and challenge us with a variety of threats simultaneously -- which is a great challenge -- but we are developing our concepts of operation," Marom said according to Foxnews.

Some military analysts have expressed skepticism that the revolutionary defense shield will hold up under a sustained assault from a wide variety of more lethal missiles attacking from different points of the compass and maintain the approximately 90 percent interception rate claimed by the IOF during last year's war on Gazoo.
If it's only 50%, that's still better than the 0% protection they would get by deploying nothing. Let not the perfect be the enemy of the good, and all that.
Marom is responsible for the Iron Dome's defense of his country from its northern borders with Leb and Syria, all the way down to its southernmost point, Eilat, on the Red Sea, adjacent to the volatile Sinai Peninsula.

He didn't offer specific numbers, but revealed that more batteries are now operational than was the case in Gazoo last summer, and that more soldiers have been trained to operate the additional sophisticated systems.

Under the guise of going on holiday to Turkey, the 26-year-old man -- referred to by the Hurriyet by his initials H.A. -- stayed at an ISIS cell for three days in Istanbul with other Russian jihadist hopefuls. The group then took a bus to the southern province of Hatay, which borders their final destination of Syria.

But back in Istanbul, H.A. messaged his brother back in Dagestan, telling him he was "having a holiday in Ankara and that his hotel is just two kilometers from the sea."

His father quickly travelled to Turkey, alerting Turkish security officials of his son's plans. Several days later, he was detained in the Hatay province, and later handed over to his parents to take him back to Turkey.

H.A, meanwhile, claims that he really had intended to go on holiday, and "unknown men" forced him to join ISIS.

Al-Qaeda-led court executes 10 in Syria's Aleppo
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] At least 10 people were executed on Saturday in Syria's Aleppo city on the orders of a religious court dominated by Al-Qaeda affiliate Al-Nusra Front, a monitor said.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said two of the executed were accused of adultery, with the rest accused of collaboration with the Syrian government.

The executions, in the eastern Aleppo neighbourhood of Shaar, were ordered by a religious court that includes several conservative rebel groups but is dominated by Al-Nusra Front.

All 10 men were rubbed out, the Observatory said.

Islamic courts have been set up in many towns and villages in Syria taken from government forces by Islamist faceless myrmidons or jihadist groups.

Al-Nusra has also carried out summary executions of government troops in areas it has captured.

Syrian army advances after rebel offensive
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Syrian army and allied militia have regained control over several northwestern villages from hard boyz on a plain crucial for defending costal areas that Damascus holds, a group monitoring the war said on Saturday.

...a Syria jihadi group made up of Islamists and salafists, not that there's that much difference, formed into a brigade. for control of Sahl al-Ghab, a plain that runs alongside the western coastal mountains as well as lying close to Hama city.

The hard boyz launched an attack this week in the area but the government has fought back using aerial bombardments, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

The Syrian air force pounded the area more than 270 times in four days, the Observatory said, and by Saturday government forces had retaken several villages and areas located inside the plain.

These included Khirbat al-Naqus and Mansoura as well as surrounding areas, it said. The army had also won back Ziyadia village and Zezoun power station, one of the country's major thermal power plants, which Nusra Front said it had captured earlier in the week.

A total of 39 combatants had been killed in the recent violence, the Observatory said.

State news agency SANA reported late on Friday that the army had taken control of Ziyadia and Zezoun as well as other locations and had "eliminated many terrorists".

Insurgents have made advances against the military in several parts of Syria in recent months, including capturing most of Idlib province to the northeast of Sahl al-Ghab plain.

alluded to military setbacks last Sunday when he said the army had been forced to give up some areas in order to hold onto more important ones during the four-year conflict.

Syria's western flank, which runs in part along the Mediterranean coast and Lebanese border, is home to major cities including Damascus and is seen as crucial for Assad's hold on power.

Home Front: WoT
Fast and Furious Hand Gun Used in Garland, TX Terrorist Attack
One of the terrorists involved in the attack on the Mohammad Art Exhibit and Contest in Garland, Texas, was allegedly allowed to purchase a 9mm handgun from a gun store that is connected to the infamous Fast and Furious gun program run by the Obama Administration in 2010. The pistol was reported to have been purchased at Lone Wolf Trading Co. located in Phoenix.

Lone Wolf was known at the time by gun smugglers to be a store that would sell firearms illegally, according to a report by Richard Serrano with the Chicago Tribune. Nadir Soofi, one of the two terrorists killed during the attack in Garland, had a history of misdemeanor drug and assault charges, the Tribune reported. That could have made him ineligible to legally purchase a gun. While in the Lone Wolf store, Soofi allegedly fudged some facts on the federal firearms form required for gun purchases in a licensed gun store.

Unknown to Soofi, Lone Wolf was in the middle of a federal sting operation knows as Fast and Furious. The ATF program was aimed at Mexican drug lords and traffickers who were attempting to buy guns in the United States and move them to Mexico. The program went sideways when federal officials lost track of the firearms, many of which allegedly ended up in Mexico.

One of those weapons was found at the scene of the murder of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry. Agent Terry was part of a Border Patrol team responding to the possible presence of Mexican bandits in southern Arizona. He was killed in an ensuing gunfight. One of the guns found at the scene was eventually traced to the Fast and Furious program.

When Soofi submitted the required form, the store contacted the FBI for a background check, according to the Tribune report. Serrano's article cites a Los Angeles Times article that stated a seven-day hold was placed on the pistol Soofi was attempting to purchase. For reasons that have yet to be explained, that hod was released after one day and Soofi was reported to have left the store with the pistol.

Lone Wolf gun store owner, Andre Howard, has reportedly denied selling the handgun to Soofi.

In May, Soofi and his roommate Elton Simpson attacked the Garland exhibit center where the Mohammad Art Exhibit, being attended by three Breitbart Texas writers, was about to let out. Breitbart Texas reported the two men jumped out of their vehicles and opened fire on a Garland police officer and an unarmed Garland school district security officer.

The Garland police officer drew his sidearm and returned fire. Both of the gunmen were killed. The police officer was struck in the foot. He was transported to the hospital and released that evening.

The Tribune reports states that the FBI has not released any details regarding the weapons used by the two terrorists. "Senate investigators are now pressing law enforcement agencies for answers, raising the chilling possibility that a gun sold during the botched Fast and Furious operation ended up being used in a terrorist attack against Americans," Serrano wrote.

Soofi's mother said her son acquired an AK-47 late in 2014. The Tribune reports states that federal officials believe Soofi and his accomplice may have been planning a Super Bowl attack. The Super Bowl was held in Glendale, Arizona, near Phoenix.

Yes.

I seem to recall a throwaway line by Obummer years ago when asked if he was working on gun control. He answered coyly that they were working on it currently from another (non-legislative) angle.
