Captain Farid, commander of the 3rd Battalion of 3rd Company of 209 Shaheen Military Corps in Faryab, said the soldiers’ location is in Chinaee Camp in Ghormach district.

Two of the soldiers were injured 10 days ago, but their injuries have not been treated well, he said.

However, Nusratullah Jamshidi, head of media office of the Afghan National Army in northern proivnces, said the battalion had received air support.

He added that the Army’s Commando Unit has been deployed to the area and that they will end the siege in the near future.

The Afghan intelligence, national directorate of security (NDS), said the man was detained during an operation from Kabul city.

A statement by NDS said the detained suspect has been identified as Allah Noor who is originally a resident of Quetta city of Pakistain.

network in Pakistain.

Allah Noor says he started operations with the ISI in 2013 and had visited Kabul to gather information for the future plans apart from hatching plans for the attack on Pul-e-Charkhi prison.

The Afghan officials have long been insisting that the leadership councils of the Taliban group and the notorious Haqqani terrorist network are based in Beautiful Downtown Peshawar

Arabia
Soddy forces land at Aden
SANAA: Yemeni security officials say Saudi forces have arrived in the southern port city of Aden amid friction within the kingdom-led alliance there.

The officials say the troops were deployed on Friday at the presidential palace, port, and airport. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to talk to journalists.

They are the first special Saudi forces in Aden since a Saudi-led coalition in 2015 started fighting Houthis to restore Yemeni President Abed-Rabbo Mansour Hadi’s internationally recognized government. After the Houthis overran the capital, Sanaa, the government became based in Aden as its temporary capital.

a prominent activist who used social media to document the war that has ravaged his country.

On August 12, Hisham al-Omeisy tweeted to his 23,700 followers: "Armed goons backed by corrupt officials are forcefully taking real estate in Sanaa. They just showed up at my door."

He has not been seen on Twitter since.

The 38-year-old father of two was reportedly captured on Monday in the capital, Sanaa, by more than a dozen armed security officers from the National Security Bureau, rights group Amnesia Amnesty International said on Friday.

"Hisham al-Omeisy has been detained without charge or a court appearance in breach of Yemen's constitution, which requires anybody arrested to be presented in court within 24 hours," said Samah Hadid, director of campaigns for Amnesia Amnesty International in the Middle-East.

"This detention illustrates the lengths to which local Houthi-Saleh authorities' are willing to go to silence peaceful activists. Hisham al-Omeisy is a prisoner of conscience, whose only 'crime' is peacefully exercising his right to freedom of expression, and he must be released immediately." Hadid said in a statement.

Europe
Barcelona attack: Huge manhunt underway amid fears terror suspect fled across border to France
[Telegraph] A huge manhunt was underway across Europe last night for at least one jihadist feared to be still at large after plotting the Barcelona terrorist attacks.

Police and security services were hunting for the remaining members of a Moroccan-born terror cell, amid fears that they could be preparing further attacks at popular tourist areas.

The 17-year-old key suspect of the Barcelona van outrage, Moussa Oukabir, was one of five terrorists shot dead by Spanish police during an attack on the coastal resort of Cambrils in the early hours of yesterday, authorities confirmed last night.

They also named Said Aalla, 18 and Mohamed Hychami, 24 as among those shot dead. Four other suspects were taken into custody.

But police were last night continuing to appeal for information on Younes Abouyaaqoub, 22. There were also reports that two further suspects were being sought.

A French security official said last night that Spanish police were looking for a Renault Kangoo van rented on Thursday in Spain by the suspects that may have crossed into France.

Security officials believe the attacks on Barcelona and Cambrils were the work of a terror cell of at least 12 people, who may have been inspired by the London Bridge outrage in June.

On Thursday afternoon, Oukabir and his associates drove a van along Barcelona’s crowded Las Ramblas thoroughfare, ploughing into tourists leaving 13 dead and more than 100 injured.

More Mosul Moslem Mayhem

16 ISIS Turbans die in counterattack in Tal Afar

Tal Afar (IraqiNews.com) Army forces killed 16 Islamic State members on Friday after thwarting an attack by the militants near Tal Afar, their last bastion in Nineveh.

Col. Dureid Saeed, from the army’s 15th division, told Kurdish-owned BasNews that the militants, including four suicide bombers, were killed on the outskirts of Tal Afar upon attacking the forces.

Tal Afar is 65 kilometers west of Mosul, and is home to a mixed Turkmen and Arab population. Iraqi forces recaptured Mosul, Islamic State’s former capital, early July after more than eight months of U.S.-backed offensives.

Having declared victory in Mosul, Iraqi PM Haider al-Abadi and his defense officials marked Tal Afar as their next target of anti-Islamic State action. Iraqi defense officials said recently that warplanes were carrying out raids on the enclave in preparation for the ground invasion which is yet to be scheduled. Other field commanders reported reinforcements and deployments around the town in preparation for the invasion.

Violence and armed conflicts left more than 500 Iraqis dead and injured throughout July, according to a monthly United Nations casualty count.

Anbar Antix

7 ISIS Bad Guys smoked in airstrike near Qaim

Qaim (IraqiNews.com) Seven Islamic State militants were killed in an airstrike while escaping their havens in Anbar towards the Syrian borders on Friday.

Alsumaria News quoted a military source saying that the militants were killed fleeing the group’s stronghold city of Qaim towards the Syrian borders. He said several combat equipments belonging to the fighters were aso destroyed.

Islamic State militants have held the towns of Anah, Rawa and Qaim, west of Anbar, since 2014, when they occupied a third of Iraq to proclaim their self-styled “caliphate”. So far, there has not been a wide-scale campaign to retake those regions, but occasional offensives by government forces and allied Popular Mobilization Forces have managed to take over several surrounding villages.

The Iraqi government declared victory over Islamic State in Mosul, the group’s former capital in Iraq, in July, and said it was going to proceed towards other group holdouts, including Anbar.

Also late July, Iraqi army warplanes reportedly dropped millions of messages on western Anbar telling locals that liberation offensives for the province were nearing, and advising them to stay away from militants’ deployments.

Anbar’s borders with Syria had seen occasional encounters between security forces and Islamic State militants.

3 wounded in airstrike near Rutba

Rutba (IraqiNews.com) The civilians died and sustained injuries when unidentified warplanes carried out an air raid near a house west of Anbar’s city of Ramadi, a local official was quoted saying.

Emad al-Dulaimi, mayor of the city of Rutba, said unidentified warplanes killed a woman, her 13-year-old daughter and wounded her husband in Okashat, north of the city (310 Km west of Ramadi).

Local officials have occasionally reported civilian deaths in airstrikes by unidentified jets in the same region. The Iraqi government forces, as well as the U.S.-led coalition, have occasionally faced accusations of causing deaths among civilians during operations targeting Islamic State havens.

Baghdad Bomb and Bullet Bulletin

4 wounded in bombing attack in Madayen district

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Four people were wounded on Friday when an explosive device went off southeast of Baghdad, a security source was quoted saying.

The source told Alghad Press that the bomb exploded near a fish market in Madayen district.

Violence and armed conflicts left more than 500 Iraqis dead and wounded during the month of July, according to a monthly count by the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq which excludes security members deaths.

“A total of 241 Iraqi civilians were killed and another 277 injured in acts of terrorism, violence and armed conflict in Iraq in July,” the UNAMI report said, noting that the security personnel casualties were excluded from the figures.

Baghdad was the second most affected province with 38 killed and 85 injured.

Baghdad has seen almost daily bombings and armed attacks against security members, paramilitary groups and civilians since the Iraqi government launched a wide-scale campaign to retake IS-occupied areas in 2016. While most of of the explosions attacks went without a claim of responsibility, Islamic State has claimed several incidents.

Some security observers believe that even after IS’s main havens across Iraqi provinces are conquered, the group may still constitute a security threat through sleeper cells and lone wolf attacks.

New face of terror emerges in southern Thailand
[Bangkok Post] Members of a new generation of the Barisan Revolusi Nasional (BRN) insurgent movement stole seven vehicles in Pattani and Songkhla provinces to use in bomb attacks in what official called an "unexpected" new attack tactic in southern Thailand.

Army chief Chalermchai Sitthisad said the group found responsible for Wednesday's car robberies in which one civilian and one militant were killed is a BRN group controlled by Dulloh Waemano.

New members who do not have criminal records were being trained to replace their predecessors who have either been nabbed or gone into hiding after authorities obtained information linking them to past attacks. These young and new members of the BRN have joined the group because they are hired, not because they agree with the group's ideology, Gen Chalermchai said.

Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Prawit Wongsuwon confirmed the BRN was behind the incidents, saying at least four out of about seven suspects involved have been clearly identified by authorities.

The the showroom thefts were carried out in Songkhla instead because tight security has been maintained in Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat, he said, referring to the robbery of the six pickup trucks at a used car shop.

However, the robberies started in Pattani where BRN militants stole a pickup truck from a couple in Pattani's Yarang district. The stolen truck was then used by about ten people -- dressed in outfits looking similar to those of security authorities -- to travel to the used car shop in Songkhla where they stole six trucks and abducted four people including the shop owner,

The four held hostage by the car robbers were identified as Saharat Laeni, Prathanphon Nuanlamun, Thanisak Yichin, and Wirasak Rattanaphan. Thanisak, who owns the used car shop, said he and Wirasak had ran away from the gunmen while they were trying to kill the other two hostages. Saharat died but Prathanphon survived because he pretended to be dead when shot by a gunman at a rubber plantation in Thepha district. The gunmen apparently intended to kill all four hostages.

After the robbery, authorities were sent to hunt down the group. A suspect later identified as Nur-arsan Arwae, a resident of Pattani's Muang district, was killed in a gun battle with authorities after he refused to stop one of the stolen cars at a security checkpoint in Pattani's Nong Chik district.

The dead suspect was found to be a student at a privately-run Muslim religious school in Pattani's Muang district. Security authorities plan to invite the director of the school in for questioning.

All other stolen trucks were located and seized back in 19 hours. One of them was fitted with a bomb and blew up on Wednesday night in Pattani's Nong Chik district. No one was hurt. Another one was dropped in front of a police flat at Mayo police station in Pattani early Thursday, about a minute before the vehicle blew up, damaging nearby buildings. A few officers who were approaching to inspect the vehicle were slightly injured.

Deputy Defense Minister Gen Udomdej Sitabutr described the attack plot as outrageous as the suspects had apparently aimed to use those stolen cars in bombing attacks. He said, "The authorities have tried every way to prevent attacks in the southern border provinces. But if these suspects aren't arrested, they will possibly next target Songkhla. And I believe there are more major violent plots to come."

23 more Syrians dead as US-led coalition bombs Daesh-held Raqqah
[Iran Press TV] Nearly two dozen civilians have bit the dust when the US-led coalition purportedly fighting the ISIS Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
terrorist group conducted a series of aerial assaults in Syria’s holy warrior-held northern city of Raqqah.

Local sources told Arabic-language Sky News Arabia television news network that Arclight airstrikes targeted a building in the Tosiyah neighborhood of the city, located about 455 kilometers (283 miles) northeast of the capital Damascus, on Friday, leaving 23 civilians dead.

The sources added that the victims were members of the same family, noting that thirteen children were among the dear departed. The attacks left a number of people injured as well.

The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, in two separate letters sent to UN Secretary General António Guterres and rotating President of the UN Security Council Amr Abdellatif Aboulatta on Thursday, called on the United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
to take on its responsibilities concerning the establishment of international peace and security to put an end to the US-led coalition’s crimes against innocent Syrians.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry also accused the US-led coalition of using guided bombs and internationally-banned white phosphorus munitions in flagrant violation of international law and human rights

principles.

Earlier on Thursday, Syria’s official news agency, SANA, reported that the US-led military aircraft had bombarded residential buildings in the city of al-Jala, located along the Euphrates River and south of the eastern city of Dayr al-Zawr, as well as the towns of At-Tayana, al-Zabari, Boqruss and Subaikhan.

The report added that six people, including three children, were killed in the attacks, noting that the Arclight airstrikes also destroyed a number of houses, public properties and civilian infrastructure in the targeted areas.

ISIS executes 8 in Kirkuk

Kirkuk (IraqiNews.com) Islamic State militants killed a police officer and his family members after invading his home in northwestern Kirkuk, according to a security source.

Alsumaria News quoted the source saying that Islamic State members sneaked on the dawn of Friday into al-Maleh village in al-Dabas region (50 Km northwest of Kirkuk), attacked a police officer’s house and killed him and seven of his family members.

Islamic State militants have held areas in southwestern Kirkuk since 2014, when they declared a “caliphate” rule on a third of Iraq and Syria. Since then, militants have executed hundreds of security agents and civilians collaborating with security troops, besides executing civilians attempting to flee the enclave.

Local tribal leaders and politicians from Kirkuk have mounted pressure on the Iraqi government to hasten with invading Hawija, the group’s largest stronghold in the southwest of the province, suggesting that its people were experiencing a humanitarian crisis under the group’s rule as the group continues to massacre civilians attempting to flee the town. The Iraqi government and military commanders have set Nineveh’s town of Tal Afar as the next target for operations against Islamic State holdouts.

ISIS militants get some payback in Diyala

Baqubah (IraqiNews.com) Three Islamic State militants died in a surprise police operation backed by civilians in Diyala, the police command said Friday.

Ghaleb al-Attiya, spokesperson of the province’s police service, told Alsumaria News that civilians at al-Islah village (70 Km northeast of Baqubah waged a surprise attack, backed by police forces, on an Islamic State “sleeper cell” that was hiding at a rest house near a farmland in the area.

According to al-Attiya, the targeted cell was preparing for an attack on local residents and was believed to have been behind the kidnapping of two civilians three days earlier.

Violence and armed conflicts killed and wounded more than 500 Iraqis throughout July, according to a monthly count by the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI).

Islamic State militants have launched occasional attacks against security forces and civilians in Diyala over the past few months, coinciding with government operations that managed to recapture the city of Mosul, Islamic State’s largest bastion in Iraq.

Done with Mosul, the government and military commanders intend to wage further offensives at other IS havens across the country, including Diyala, seeking to mark an end to the sel-proclaimed “caliphate” declared by the group back in 2014.
